RE: Next WMU AD should be?
I would like to formally endorse Mr. Ron English. Ron is a WMU alumni with 37 years of experience in college athletics including, but not limited to stints at Southern Ill. (1.5 yrs.), Missouri Valley Conference - Assistant Commissioner (7 yrs.), Ohio Valley Conference - Senior Associate Commissioner (3 yrs.) and Director, Division 1 Men's Basketball Championship (2007 - current)
We need to break away from the "good ole boys club" and start taking WMU athletics in the Right direction.......
Thank you for your support.

Sounds great!
BIG question is Ron interested? & has he applied?

Not to be confused with former EMU football coach.

Reads like a great candidate based on his resume, although -

Why would he want to come back to WMU?

And, also not the kind of athletic administrator we have hired previously.

I think it will be Monty Porter or Jim Culhane.

It will have to be somebody who embraces the "rebrand."

Apparently, with the search company, you have to be nominated.

We'll have our answer soon. It will not be an internal hire.

I'm sure we will, and

Yep - the begging for an external hire around these boards were head-scratching - especially with who's our Deputy AD. WMU just had it's most successful decade run of athletics success in it's history.

That was a long time ago. Or go internal and be happy with the same old same old mediocre at everything. I’ll take my chances.

We've fallen on some tough times but it's like you people expect us to be freaking Michigan...

Football - Cotton Bowl, MAC championship, no losing seasons since PJ's first, lost coach to Minnesota
Basketball - Robert McCollum got hired away, had one of the winningest coaches in MAC history with us for 20 years, COVIDs screwed us out of getting Saddi
Hockey - in the best league in the country, top 5 team right now, lost coach to NHL, hired an NHL coach, next hire seems to be working great
Tennis - most successful coach in history runs the program, automatic MAC champions every year
Volleyball - always in the the thick of it, very good program, 19-12 this year, lost a coach to MSU a decade or so ago
Baseball - MAC championship, finished third this year in the MAC
Men's soccer - great program, made run at NCAAs few years ago, star player in the MLS currently
Women's soccer - two former coaches now coaching in the P5 at Notre Dame and Oregon State

Enough with this mediocrity bs. WMU has been cash-strapped for years and has done relatively well with it's limitations. It's impossible for every sport to be good at the same time.

RE: Next WMU AD should be?
With all do respect to the other sports and sex’s out there, I don’t think it matters much how many tennis championships (for example) wmu has. I played a “non revenue” sport at wmu but I’m also a realist. The big 3 wmu sports bring the awareness, recognition, merchandise, water cooler talk, and can get a large university excited. That’s just fact. We have one football championship, two basketball, one hockey all this century. That’s mediocre. A tennis championship feels great for the student athletes. But it doesn’t affect the larger university.
