Happy to see the team fight and claw its way back today.

We may need to get used to "ugly" because (IMHO) that is what good "small ball" needs to be. We'll never look good playing like a UVA but can look pretty darn good playing some "street ball". I didn't watch, only listened to this one but sounded like we just played tougher than Wright St did in the second half.

By "ugly" I meant missed shots and mistakes down the stretch a bit today. Felt like we should have been able to put the game away in the last 3/4 minutes. If this team gets some shooting consistency and tightens up a few things they could be scary good.

I hope so, but I have a feeling we're going to have a lot of games like the last 4 which will be very stressful. On the flip side I felt little stress with Lou. Stress is preferable. 02-13-banana

what was Sule doing taking a shot when he rebounded the missed ft with 6 secs left? this guy is an experienced player, you have to know better than that.

Yep. Coach called it a boneheaded play which is true. We kind of lucked out at the end by doing things to try to give the game away, but Wright State couldn’t capitalize. I still don’t understand how their guard got open down the court for the pass the went off his finger tips for what would have been the tying dunk. It’s like a safety who gets caught with his eyes in the backfield and let’s a bomb be thrown over his head. Doesn’t make any sense when you have a 2 point lead and the ball with 6 seconds left.

Good news of the day - it felt like the Dukes had 20 layups or more. Just relentless in driving to the hoop and getting some breakouts on steals.

This team is resilient. We haven't won games like that in what feels like 30 years. ...and they are noticeably better each game. For the first time in a long long while, I actually eagerly anticipate each of the next men's bb games.

Wonder how motivated By can get this team during conference play. Would be nice to see a big ole chip on each of their shoulders.

Murray State just throttled Long Beach State 80-43. Dukes will play Murray at 2:30 tomorrow for 5th place.

In a common recurring theme, they have a dominant big. He went off for 29 points today and is large at 6’10” 245 lbs. more doubling of the post coming up.
He is really good though and also shoots over 40% from 3.

Why couldn’t JMU just get one of these guys? Just one on a roster of 13. The team would be next level good with a dominant big.

If we keep winning and moving up the rankings/making noise...I think we'll land one soon. And not just a 6'8" guy. A legit big. Maybe not the quickest, but someone who can be a bruiser inside. They would know they'll get a ton of playing time on a really good team that wins. I think we'll still be solid without a true big once we have our true PG healthy, but won't be able to be a top level team without one.

He wasn't open. Hodge was the one I believe who was on him which is why the pass was high. He might have got a shot off if he corralled it...but he wasn't going in for a dunk.

Gritty win. Not a game for JMU fans with a weak heart, but I really appreciate this team’s fight and willingness to play D. Coach B and staff appear to have the player’s attention and confidence, and the guys (with all the new parts) are learning to work together. Watching this team compete is such a breath of fresh air. It actually gives a JMU fan hope and a sense this team is not only athletic and talented, but they’re well coached.

Go Dukes!

Scrappy bunch, these Dukes! And very athletic. Wright State is no slouch. Basile, the big guy in the middle, was impressive. I thought the difference was our in-your-face defense and especially the 11 steals, most of which were converted, I believe.

All these tight, scrappy games will really help us come CAA tournament time.
oh, wait.....
