Mike Greene should have a massive chip on shoulder for being selected 2nd team. He missed 2 games due to injury and gets double teamed every play. He is the best DT in the CAA and perhaps the best in FCS. I think he has more NFL potential than any senior on the roster.

Perhaps unknowing opponents will make a mistake and not double team him in the playoffs. That will be bad news for them.

No doubt, yet we had another defensive 1st team that nobody that actually watches the games would have anywhere near there. I think they just look at total season stats sometimes and don’t take into account the actual reputation.

Too often in things like this the voters do not look beyond the stats and actually watch what is going on during the games. Hard to do I know when you are coaching your own team and what not. Wonder how many of the coach voters dumps this on their schools SID's?

Nice representation by the Dukes and glad to see Cole getting the accolades he’s earned.

Shocked to see Ross on there. Seems like he gets burned constantly and struggles to turn his head and play the ball leading to a lot of receptions for the opposing team.

Ross is a surprise to me. I don't believe he's our best DB but I guess the voters thought he was.

Hart, I'm going to disagree a little with you. I hope Mike Greene takes exception to his 2nd Team selection but I don't think he had a good Spring or Fall season. In the Spring he didn't look as quick playing DE as he did playing DT. Maybe it was his wearing the #3 that made it look like he wasn't as fast as Ron'dell.

This season he's been hobbled by injuries IMO which meant unless he was Superman in the games he played which I don't believe he was he was lucky to be named to the 2nd Team.

They looked at the stats and saw 3 INTs and 8 PBU. No stat for being burnt, turned around and missed tackles, but if you truly are a very good DB they aren’t throwing your way for the picks/PBUs.

Two freshman 1st teamers, Wells and the d-lineman from Albany, put up big numbers and will be interesting to see how they produce the next 3 seasons, if the big boys try to poach them, and where they end up on the draft radar.

Polish I'm worried about possible poaching too but wonder if the move up will make it less attractive for Wells to want to leave. Need to hope that Wells has developed a friendship with Atkins like it seems he has with CJ or if we get a transfer QB they develop a bond pretty quickly.

I agree with that. However, I think we have a better chance of keeping him now than we did if we stayed FCS.
Also another thing to keep in mind is that we may be doing our own poaching. It's also less likely that a G5 school would take him away from us.
There's more to a player transferring than just FBS (which we will soon be). JMU is a great school and he may be very happy here.

True, but in high school he transferred for better exposure to help get to that next level. We’re going up to FBS but our games somewhat meaningless next season and we’ll experience some adversity they’re not used to. I’d hate to see him think he’d have more eyes on him elsewhere as he wants to get to that next level.

Quote:After prepping this season at Fork Union Military Academy, former Highland Springs standout Antwane Wells (2019 WR 6-2 195) has committed to the Dukes of JMU. Coming out of Highland Springs, Wells had offers to play at Jacksonville State, Robert Morris University, and Campbell but believed he could improve his prospects if he took a prep year. “I worked so hard for an opportunity to play football at the next level, so it feels amazing knowing that I will be playing for great program like JMU,” explained Wells.

As a senior at Highland Springs, Wells played a big role in helping the Springers capture their fourth consecutive state title. Wells hauled in 31 receptions for 755 yards and 10TD’s and was named First-Team All-Region and All-State last year. He also garnered First-Team All-804 accolades from recruit804.

I mean, FUMA postgrad prep is pretty common. He graduated from HS, yes? He didn’t leave HS for FUMA to improve his stock. HSHS has plenty of players that go to top P5 programs. You just aren’t allowed to do 5 years of high school football…

I guess the word “transferred” was what was misleading.
