I agree. Annapolis is great! I have heard Virginia tossed around as a potential opponent with ECU in the Military Bowl.

Yeah love Annapolis. It's boaty like Wilmington. Agree we'd probably end up with a middling ACC team like Louisville, Miami, or Virginia.

Hope we get Virginia Tech so that their fanbase can throw a fit

Don’t we have a tie in to the Birmingham Bowl with the SEC? The bowl seems to think so.

I would be okay with that in the new stadium. And bring us Josh Heupel. We could have an ECU/Tennessee showdown.

They have to beat Virginia first. It would be hilarious if they miss a bowl, while we play their rivals.

That would definitely be an odd one for me. Went to ecu and Tennessee. Go Pirates though.

RE: SI Bowl Projections
The conference's release lists:
NY6 if the champ is top
Military Bowl vs ACC
Fenway Bowl vs ACC
Hawaii Bowl vs mwc (this alternates years with Armed Forces Bowl)

Then the "pool" which in the release includes former tie-ins like Birmingham and Gasparilla. I, too, saw a little while ago that Birmingham still listed us on the site -- maybe their spot in the "pool" has a preference pick? Gasparilla site shows logos for American plus CUSA, mwc, MAC, SEC, ACC, PAC, and B12, along with Army and BYU. My conclusion is that the "pool" isn't a complete free-for-all; conferences might be preferred or even excluded by the bowls higher in the pool food chain.

The winner of the AAC CCG is almost a lock for the NY6 (with UC possible for CFP semifinal). If both UC and UH win this weekend, I'll delete that "almost" and expect that the 30 Nov CFP Committee standings will look like it even moreso than this week's.
My early prediction now:
If UC wins CCG, Houston might be the beneficiary of some horse-trading - either a higher autonomy-conference opponent than the Military/Fenway bowls get, or somewhere unexpected vs a G4/non-ND-independent with a flashy record. That could also translate to our Hawaii Bowl obligation IF mwc can provide one of their top teams - their CCG isn't clear at all yet, so there could be a decent opponent for us after their champ goes to Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl vs a lower PAC12 pick.
ECU to Military or Fenway.
UCF to the other vs ACC then seems likely.
If Birmingham really does have a preferred slot for the AAC in the pool, that could be SMU, UCF, or Memphis (if they beat Tulane) in rough order of guessing
Maybe the aforementioned horse-trading for our 11- or 12-win CCG runnerup gets us out of Hawaii altogether. SMU could go to Hawaii, though, if that stays as a commitment for us.
6-win Memphis or 6-win Tulsa would be in play for a lower-level "pool" like Frisco or Cure Bowls, or could be our sacrificial lamb for Hawaii if mwc opponent isn't "worth" the AAC runner up or an 8/9 win SMU.

I know it is a cottage industry on this board to deride the AAC bowl lineup. No, it doesn't look like any of the autonomy conferences'. But I expect it will once again be head and shoulders above all of the G4s.

ECU most likely headed to Miltary vs Va Tech or Virginia. Louisville could also be a possibilty

I think Virginia Tech plays in that game every other year. It’s their own 6-6 record invitational.

Only when the Bearcats are there. No, really, those are the only two appearances they have in the bowl's 12 games.

Wake Forest and Maryland have also been twice from the ACC's nine appearances - three times no ACC opponent.

Temple and Navy each have three appearances.

Would have to think Birmingham is the preference from the pool. Highest payout

Should be ACC opponent - don't have to worry about them having extra teams in the NY6 this year. (I am curious if both Military and Fenway get an ACC participant).

I feel like it will be Virginia. They still have to play today. Could be Va Tech or Louisville too. Va Tech would have to win today. Also, could possibly be UNC. That would be interesting.
