Week 13 is typically reserved for Rivalry Week - especially for the P5 programs.
But I have noticed UAB has rarely played a rival during this week. Yes, we have played Southern Miss a handful of times during this week, but not enough for it to be considered rivalry week.
Has C-USA (in any of its iterations) ever treated Week 13 as a Rivalry Week?
Here are some games in C-USA, Sun Belt, and American that are rivalry games. I did not list the MAC - it looks like most of their games are rivals but majority of their teams are in Michigan and Ohio and every week is an instate or cross state rival for them.
*Note these are not permanently scheduled for Wk 13 every year, these are just rivalry games that happened to be scheduled during this week.
Wk 13 C-USA:
UTSA v. UNT
WKU v. Marshall
Charlotte v. ODU? (on twitter this was listed as the 71st Oyster Brawl)
Wk 13 Sun Belt:
Georgia Southern v. App State
ULM v. Louisiana
Wk 13 AAC:
USF v. UCF
Looks like other G5 conferences don't typically follow the Rivalry Week scheduling either. I assume the Southern G5 conferences may avoid scheduling rivalry games during this week so they won't have to compete against P5 rivalry games, but I think having a full weekend of rivalry games, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, would be great TV.
Would you prefer to play Southern Miss or Memphis during Wk 13, let's say on Black Friday night, or would you rather play a rival in the middle of the schedule and have a random division opponent on the last week of the schedule like we do currently?
The only rivalry UAB has is Fans doing damage control vs fans giving constructive criticism. USM should have remained in week 13 for us, but they probably would’ve wanted someone else that they considered a rival. They don’t think of us that way.

The damage was done when they punted the CUSA Title to UTSA. No way to spin that.

Well, So Miss did that to us for a bunch of years. I still have some hate in my heart for them, but it isn't as intense as it used to be. I feel like we've paid back the misery they gave us, and I'm now content to leave them be and wish them well. I really do hope they are successful over in the Belt.
Figure UAB and UTSA will make good rivals going into the AAC. We knocked them out of contention last year and broken the tuba. This year...THEY beat us.
Be cool to create a rivalry trophy with the broken trombone.

Probably won't play them often unless its in the championship game. They'll be in the other division.
