Other games of interest MBB 21-22

Typical athletic CAA player who can develop into an all-conference player but was not skilled enough out of high school to be in the upper echelon of the NCAA. His passing and handles have some to be desired, but he is fun to watch.
The Hens ball movement in the first half was a thing of beauty that created a lot of easy looks, for sure. They ran their offense through Painter who had a field day against our lone big. However Painter was a mess defensively and then Delaware went away from Painter on offense in the 2nd half, which spurred us coming back.
For all of the commentary pre-season about the league being down, the talent I have seen so far through the league, does not scream down. I think if the games get played it truly will be a fun year for most teams (except the Tribe). Wont help anyone for seeding, but will be a fun season and should be a phenomenal CAAT
Depends on your definition of “down”. If you’re looking at it from a league-wide parity aspect and entertaining games/tournament, sure it might be a wild ride and fun year for fans.
If we are comparing to other conferences and the overall quality of basketball in the CAA… this league sucks, and that’s being nice.

Surprisingly, the CAA's league RPI ranking is 13th right now, 14th in the NET rankings.
Granted, there IS a pretty wide gap between us and the # 12 league, C-USA. We're ahead of the Sun Belt, Missouri Valley, and the MAC.

Somebody help me out here. We are on a five game win streak. The last three teams we beat sit above us in the NET rankings. And we drop 4 spots, from 270 to 274. How does that work?

The only thing i can think of is those teams we beat have fallen. So the value of the win prob decreases a bit. Just a guess.

Going into the Elon game, SN08 had us at 272 in his thread report.
They were ranked lower than us, so beating them doesn't help

This is the NET rankings that the NCAA now goes by. All 3 and Campbell are ranked above us.

Ok, I was looking at the latest update. Elon is now below us. But we have beaten Delaware, Campbell and Coastal who are still ranked above us. Still Don understand how we dropped with a 5 game win streak.

It's a 4 game win streak unless you count Mt Olive and the rankings don't ,only one of the teams has a winning record in that streak -Delaware . It's actually really easy to understand it . SOS is not a think in NET but the schedule is so weak it makes it really hard to move up ,SOS is at 333 out of 358 .

Keep winning and playing good team ball and the rest works itself out. I have enjoyed watching them play during this win streak. You can literally see them developing right before your eyes. And, it was very apparent that guys were looking to share the ball to get others guys rolling in the Elon game. That was great to see. The assist numbers would have been terrific if we didn’t start off cold.

Don't agree, the first half was a lot of standing around again. Second half was much better team ball. Sure they missed some shots in the first half, but generally when you don't move around the quality of the shots are not as good. They played a very good second half, specifically the last 10 mins or so.

I agree that movement wasn’t the best but that is not what my post was about. It was about the willingness to pass the ball for a better shot. We had 2 terrific 1st half looks : an inside out wide open 3 ball from Fornes and another skip to corner for Harvey that simply were not converted. Both typically would be given that they were open looks set up by great passes/ decisions. That willingness paid off in the 2nd half along with a determination to touch the paint each trip.

2 terrific looks in a half isn't much, that was my point. Second half was pretty great

Okay we have CAA games so we are compelled to discuss them.
NE in a tight one at home 68-66 over Drexel.
JMU wins on the road at Tribe. Let’s say 73-64.
Flying Dutchmen 74 Hens 70.
I would NOT bet these games as they are not locks.
Last Sunday- Elon was a lock and my friend took advantage.

If you have FLO, turn on the Tribe/JMU game. William and Mary beating JMU like a drum to start. Up 23-7 with 12:55 left in the first half. Dominating them on offense and defense.
