There are multiple P5 schools that would snap up Keatts. Winning in the ACC and at NCSU is a tough gig and Keatts plays a style a lot of schools would like.
Name one P5 school that would hire Keatts after and if he gets fired at State. His brand is boring and he is not winning -frankly I don't know what State is waiting for with this . They don't defend and they don't score much-so what is appealing about that ?
You’re acting like coaches before him at NCSU haven’t been hired by P5s as head coaches.
I’m not understanding your logic, especially considering how many P5s are out there.

If Keatts were to leave State because of a lack of winning, the Charlotte 49ers job might peak his interest. Their current coach is Ron Sanchez who in his 4th year has amassed a 39-55 record.
With them switching to the American Conference in the next 2 seasons, I could easily see them wanting a change and a fresh start. The timing might work out well.

I could not see Keatts being hired there at all -they are a up and coming athletic department with young coaches.

No doubt, but that wouldn't be P5 as others have suggested
Looking at recent head coaches in the ACC who are no longer there.
At Pitt, James Dixon left for a better offer at TCU. His replacement was Kevin Stallings who was dismissed and is currently under a show cause NCAA penalty so he definitely didnt go P5.
At Virginia Tech Buzz Williams left for a better deal at SEC Texas A&M.
At Wake, Danny Manning was dismissed and he backdoored his way into the interim head coaching position at Maryland due to taking an assistant job and stepping up with the MD head coach stepped down.
At Clemson, Oliver Purnell left to go to Big East DePaul and a better deal. Again not technically P5, but Big East is elite.
So, I would say based on the facts, the only way an ACC coach goes to another P5 job after the ACC is if they get a better offer while they are an ACC head coach.
If Keatts were to get dismissed I would think that Charlotte job would make a lot of sense.

You're right I misread the timeliness. He voluntarily leave for A&M though.
Purnell and Sendeck were the only recent examples I could find of coaches at P5 or Big East immediately after their ACC job where they weren't stolen away. Both of those situations involved a coach taking their team to the NCAAs regularly but for whatever reason was not a fit with the fanbase
Williams and Dixon left for more money or else they would probably still be at both schools

Williams is a Texas guy and he said over and over again that he was going home to coach and the money difference was not huge . Dixon was a straight out money deal and has been up and down there but they are winning this year . Keatts is no where close to these guys as a coach and State fans are pretty delusional about the program there .

Elon and William and Mary are up at the half and UNCW tied with Delaware. Could you imagine if Hofstra, Northeastern and Delaware all took the L to these teams tonight? I know the chances are slim, but what if?

Although the Drexel postponement sucks, we will get them at home with the students back and maybe even a meaningful game late in January.
