This is just a transition year. We will be fine

Not so sure.
It was supposed to be the transition year due to Brady being gone.
But qb has NOT been a problem - it's been a strength.
So why is it a transition year?
6-6 is supposed to be the floor for this program now, with our OOC scheduling.
We are in the crawl space right now needing to beat Tulane to climb up to the floor.

Coach Silverfield and his staff have got to hit the transfer portal hard this year. We're going to need another running back, tight end, 2 receivers, and offensive lineman, two linebackers, and a defensive back.

We have to take advantage of fast starts. We have scored 82 (75 offensively) in the first quarter this year. We have also been shutout in the first quarter in 4 games. I want to say that we have also scored 41 points combined in two games this year. We averaged 9.5 points in the first quarter in 2019. We were only shutout one time (@ Temple) In 2021, we are averaging 7.4 points in the first quarter. In the last 4 games, Memphis had only scored 7 points in the first quarter combined.

Seth Henigan needs to add close to 20 pounds of muscle. The only knock on the kid is his body and slim build. Can he take some hits. Tevin Carter, Grant Gunnell, even Brady White are all in the 230 pound area. Henigan only weigh at 200 pounds.

Henigan needs to aim around 65% competition percentage. He's currently at 59.3%, which is 95th in the country. If he was at 65%, he would be 36th in the country.

However, if there's not any significant change during the offseason, then I do expect this year to happen all over again.
another Running back? you have Rodriguez Clark, Asa, Coffey, JP Martin--maybe Thomas doesnt transfer, Tharon Davis.
Tight End i agree on. McRae will start. tore his ACL this year.
WR I think they may look to grab a transfer on.
technically you can return LT(Myers), LG(Fields), C(Likes), & RT(Dale). Now if Myers comes back after the season injury who knows. Dale already got flagged for a false start next season so I'm good if he moves on haha.
They actually have a lot of freshman linebackers. Cullens can come back. Owens can comeback and plays a pseudo SS/Hybrid linebacker role. Mashburn should be back although hes probably a 4-3 End..
DB you have rubin, Oliver(can come back), Cameron Smith got playing time late in the year. Quindell is probably going pro --wouldnt be shocked to see Barnett move to FS. Sanchez blake is back but they would probably also take a transfer/juco at either safety spot as well

henigan had to rush a lot of throws this year. had a lot of one read looks to calvin and then he would just rip it. i agree on completion rating need to go up a bit

The reason why I said we need another running back is for philosophical reasons. Last season, there were plenty of running backs that had the opportunity to stand out, and none of them did. Yes, Brandon Thomas may be the best one of the group, but there hasn't been a second running back that stand up.
Clark had only 561 yards of rushing last year. He was our leading rusher. Unless Thomas averages around 165 yards in the next two games, then it'll be two straight seasons we haven't had a 1,000 yard rusher. That's not a good look for a coach that takes pride in running the ball (Hint: OL coach).
So, I don't believe anybody else in the running back room will take the next step. Watkins, Clark, Asa Martin have all been on the roster for 3 years now, how much time are we going to give them?

Regarding to linebacker, we're losing JJ Russell. I'm looking to add another linebacker for depth. Sanchez Blake will probably transfer. I'm sure some of these guys are ready to move on to the next chapter of their lives. Regardless, there's going to have to be a major shakeup.
Clark also started the year with more carries in the first 4 games than any RB in the previous like 8 years...then he got beat up and you noticed his carries drop drastically the rest of the year because he wasnt healthy. he clearly stood out as the 2nd best back this year. Watkins is done and wont be back. I mean you need a better OL honestly. You had to move your best lineman last year just to make something work because you had nothing at RT. This year the OL looked good until they started dropping like flies and jumping off sides. There's a reason they stopped running left.

This is the one time for Sanchez to start. he's had better talent in front of him for years. Great tackler, horrid in coverage. I think youre more likely to see a Juco player added at safety and/or the biggest shocker, Quindell coming back.
