RE: Bowl Rumors
I am worried about our bowl game. It seems a little anti-climactic after the CCG, and some of the coaching staff (including our DC) have apparently already moved on with Billy. Maybe we can get our new coach on board and right the ship soon. I hope so.

Really? If your guys aren’t laser focused on finishing the best season in school history, and one of the top two in league history, then I don’t know what to say.

Lol.
Last week we weren’t going to win, even if CBN was still on staff, because he would not be ‘focused’ on the CCG.
Now we shouldn’t lose the bowl game even though our head coach and the guts of our coaching staff are no longer with the team.
Wow.

Wow indeed. Very sensitive. Little shocking. Wow.
Different fans can have different opinions. If UL guys aren't ready to finish ranked and 13-1 I don't know what to say other than "wow" myself. App won two bowls with a coach and a bunch of grad assistants.

It’s nothing about being ‘sensitive.’ Just the level of hypocrisy of the two set of comments, with completely different set of standards, etc.
And I never said we wouldn’t win the bowl, just pointed out how insane the expectations are between the 2 weeks.

You are being a little sensitive. Go win your bowl game, no excuses.

I don't see how those two opinions are opposite. Dealt with a coach in transition could be distracting for one game. And trying to finish strong to put an exclamation point with the bowl.
Doesn't seem to be two different opinions

I hope they are, but it would be nice to get a staff in place. I agree a 13-1 finish would be historic for the Cajuns and I hope it happens. Looking at the AP and Coaches poll, we moved into the top 20 today (I think16 and 17) Looking forward to seeing what the CFP poll looks like. We still need to finish this thing, now without Billy.

RE: Bowl Rumors
Again:
Last week y’all were sure we weren’t going to WIN the CCG because CBN could not possibly be focused on the game. What with all that recruiting for FL he was gonna be doing.
Now y’all are saying we shouldn’t LOSE the bowl game, despite the fact that we now have actually lost CBN and a huge part of our coaching staff.
Those are diametrically opposed schools of thought. And I’m not being ‘sensitive’ in pointing that out. In fact, I just find the hypocrisy pretty funny. And I never said we would not win the bowl game.
And my last word on this is, I guess when you say ‘everyone’ can have an opinion on this, you mean ‘everyone’ but me.
Get real. Get tougher.

WE as a group weren't saying a collective anything. There's several dozen app fans with their own opinions. However, I follow their train of thought. UL was dealing with a lot of media attention. That COULD have been distracting for everyone and COULD have affected the play.
Now, UL is playing to stay ranked. Finish with a win. Put a feather in their cap that they're doing this without a coach. Several App fans (not all) have said this should be some motivations to finish strong.
You're the only one (not all UL fans, just you) are coming in hot and kinda funny, honestly.
Congrats on the win.

Do you think we will be announcing an interim coach before the permanent coach gets selected?

I’d be more on board with playing Marshall in NO if they were a little bit better this year, as in one of the two teams in the CUSA CCG.
With us only playing 2 cross divisional games in the future SBC (vs 4 cross now), we actually will not play Marshall that much in the future unless both of us make the SBC championship game every year. Depending on how the schedule sets up and how teams get rotated on/off, we could play Marshall next year OR not play them until 2025.
Marshall is plenty good enough to beat Louisiana. They got boat raced by WKU because Wells went out and their offense resembled USM at that point.
Oh man, hot take alert right there. Fact is we’re the champ of a better league and they’re maybe 4th best, at least according to conference and overall record. If you were in our situation, I highly doubt you’d be excited about playing the 4th best team from CUSA.

So honest question, trying to understand SB tie ins…
Thought this year ESPN got first dibs, and the NO R&L got second? Does that mean ESPN chose App St first, even though they weren’t Champs? Or did Louisiana have the slot, and an option to decline (which they’d have had to obviously)?
Thanks.

RE: Bowl Rumors
I should say, I’m perfectly familiar with Bowls typically having room to go 1 win/loss outside the “official” pecking order/rank of finish.
I know, for example, Michigan/PSU/Wisky have been picked over a 1 win better MSU or Minny in the past.
Just wondering what happened here… I’d assumed our CGC was tied to that #1 ESPN slot, therefore App St to the R&L.

Wow.
I never claimed that other stuff. I do this, though. If I were a betting man, I’d say your players believe the program is bigger than any one man. If they don’t, Louisiana football will return to its mean.
Look up the Herb Brooks speech that didn’t make the Disney movie.

Chief mentioned that NOLA had a clause in the contract that if an UL wins the conference they still get to invite them. ESPN filled their SBC bowls and left Mobile with the Flames. I hate that for the Mobile/SBC relationship, but hopefully as long as USA hosts the game they'll have a direct tie-in with the SBC unlike the Myrtle, Potato, Boca, First Responders, etc. that have signed their picks away to ESPN.

RE: Bowl Rumors
Maybe it’s limited because of the Sugar Bowl and Saints, but it would be nice to get the NOLA bowl in the week after Christmas vs a P5 team. It is a great bowl destination. They can turn around the Dome fast from a college game to the NFL, so maybe that’s something that could happen.
