AAC went 5-0 this afternoon with all opponents but one (apologies to Central Arkansas) ranked higher than the lowest ranked AAC team (apologies to Cincinnati — but they did beat a rival ranked just above them)

USF moved up to #29 in the NET rankings. Next games will be vs Stetson and High Point at home this week and then next week vs two top 50 NET teams West Virginia and Ole Miss in West Pam Beach next week.

USF destroyed West Virginia 77-55. USF is 9-3, WV was #52 in NET rankings. Bulls play Ole Miss next at 10-1 and #41 in NET rankings

Rice’s scheduled game at #23 Texas A&M yesterday got scratched due to Covid protocols.

Since we last left our heroines, not much special in AAC WBB over the last couple days leading in to the Christmas break.

SMU back in action tonight hosting Pine Bluff, and Tulsa @ Okla State is canceled.

USF fell to Ole Miss at West Palm Beach (dropped from AP 18->22)
UCF was idle
Houston beat A&M Corpus Christi
Tulane was idle (hasn’t played since 12/8)
Tulsa lost by 2 hosting San Francisco
Wichita lost by double digits hosting Kansas
Memphis idle (but beat Nichols on the 20th)
SMU canceled UT-Arlington game (UTA finished 4-0 vs AAC affiliated teams)
Temple lost by 3 hosting Old Dominion
ECU easily beat Maryland-Eastern
Cincinnati lost by only 11 at Marquette

After tonight, 2 more days off OOC before conference play begins on New Year’s Day

I think ECU will have a pretty good womens team in a year or two.

SMU pulled away from Pine Bluff in the final minute for the home win tonight. Jasmine Smith (transfer from Rice) led the scoring with 25 points.

Six games on tap tomorrow.
Oops make that three, USF, Wichita and Houston are still scheduled

What’s got you optimistic about ECU?

At my school we’ve got a new coach after losing our very successful coach to Washington and it will take a couple years to reload the roster. Several transferred to Washington plus Smith to SMU when she left. Hope to be back in top 25 form by the time we join AAC.

In any case that should make you feel better about a solid but not convincing lead against a #277 team. Find a way to win is job one…

5 lead changes, sloppy first quarter with tons of turnovers… last 3 min of 1Q Wichita leads 15-14.

Incoming AACer UNT is at #10 Baylor later tonight, too

After 1Q it’s OU 19-15 (points).

WSU leads 8-7 in turnovers though!!!

Wichita had been down 12 but now is back to within 4 in the 3Q 49-53.

UNT is getting blown out of the blocks 4-14 at Baylor early

14-0 run for the Shockers to go from 38 to 52-53 before OU finally scored again

And just like that, it’s a double digit lead again for the Sooners.

OU had been 4/9 on FT but hit their last 5 from the line for the 53-63 lead after 3Q. WSU just 36% from the floor.

Baylor 26, UNT 13 after 1Q.

Both WSU & UNT fell short by 20+ tonight.

One more OOC tomorrow, Tulane (86) hosts #297 Wofford.

Looks like both 1/1 Conference games are already postponed.
