Monday Musings
Big game Friday in the sad flats of Michigan as the eagles will head north to take on the Chippewas sponsored by Soaring Eagle Casino and resort. Although the MAC west is not on the line possible bowl position and the Michigan MAC trophy is. Trophies are cool bring it home.
Basketball is different then the last five years there is optimism maybe the wins come soon too.
With the Lions struggling (to the point the NFL was advertising tickets were available for the thanksgiving day game) I would like to remind everyone people in Detroit show up to the game, cannot guarantee that would happen elsewhere. Leave the game alone. Ohio State just scored again.

RE: Monday Musings
Good report. Didn't note that supply chains are opening up some, which is good news.

https://twitter.com/carlquintanilla/stat...50466?s=20

Bad news: BLS reports a shortage of DTs in the Lansing area. MSU should give new recruits a signing bonus. What good is a 95M dollar coach but a two bit defense? DP is probably smiling now that MSU... I read that money flows in E. Lansing faster than their famous river. Just hope it doesn't become like in SEC country.

Bad news II: Mt. Pleasant weather will not be pleasant FRIDAY. This is a case where the city's name... well you get it.

I would agree but then again CMU just shed the anchor of their program, the "great" Keno Davis. I suspect they will be much better in the future.

Great for CMU future recruiting pitch…..kids want to play the highest level possible.

What did you learn?

I think what you learned, Steve, was to be faithful to a misguided coach who fed you BS that poor EMU can only play Concordia, Adrian College, Rochester College, etc

It’s understandable getting your Arse kicked when you’re a first year coach but not so much in years 3-10. Your allegiance to Murphy hurt EMU

Wait, are you saying Murphy never had paycheck games? Feel like we got our ass kicked by MSU or Duke or Syracuse every year. Steve’s right, that does nothing to help recruiting at all. It’s all about the money.

Disagree that playing the high profile schools do not help recruiting because they certainly do. Did either of you play collegiate sports? If you did, you’d know that athletes want to play against the best and great schedules certainly help in recruitment. Lining up Adrian College, Rochester College and sisters of the poor are not going to excite prospective student athlete candidates.

Of course they are money games too.

Did you play collegiate sports in this century? If you did, you’d know that it doesn’t matter because every small school plays paycheck games. If it mattered, then SWAC teams would get the best recruits because their entire OOC schedules are like that.

Yes I did play temporarily did you?

EMU played more sisters of the poor schools than payoff games. Go back and look at the old thread where Murphy scheduled less payoff games and more sisters of the poor to build wins for his contract. Certainly who you play will be a factor in an athlete’s decision when many other factors are equal.

RE: Monday Musings
Literally no one cares about you playing college sports in ancient times. And literally no recruit cares about your program getting smoked by Gonzaga because, again, every non-P5 school has those games. Not surprised that you’re completely out of touch.
