Rice women vs Oklahoma State
Tough match-up for the women - against a pretty strong defensive team in Oklahoma State.

Destiny Jackson has her arm in a sling, so we're starting freshman Trinity Gooden in the backcourt, and really have just two other healthy players - Bokunewicz and Bellamy off the bench.

Rice hanging tough down 9-8 after 1 quarter. Let's hope the gals don't get too tired - at least a slower paced game will help.

Very physical defense by OSU so of course they are getting to the line unlike the Owls.

Gonna be a long game. No playmaking for us on the offensive side and when we do get a semi-decent look, we're not finishing.

Okla St is over their slow start, and Rice is missing shots and free throws. 18-8 and getting worse.

Actually I take part of that back (and it was 10-8 after 1 quarter). McCurry is dressed out today, but hasn't gotten into the game yet.

Easily one of the worst offensive teams I've seen in my who knows how many years following Rice sports. As in, you'd see legitimately better execution at the West Fourth Street Courts in NYC. It's not just that we're missing shots (open and contested)...it's that in the last 2 minutes we've turned it over once by throwing it off one of our player's heads (from like 2 feet away) and turned it over once from literally handing OK St the ball.

And to be clear, it's not all the players' fault. Edmonds had to come into this year knowing that against any good defensive teams, we'd look hopeless. This isn't surprising. We very blatantly don't have the pieces.

Crosthwait was making 3’s but she’s in foul trouble, and Ok St has spread their defense out since nobody is a serious threat in the paint. They’ve given up a couple of easy layups that way but they can afford it.

We’re at least holding steady with them in Q3 so far

I'm not kidding, the staff should spend an entire practice just working on pass catching. Like one of those Kelvin Sampson practices where he takes the ball away or puts a lid on the rim and makes his guys rebound all day. Some really bad hands on display here.

Should seen one of the last Ben Braun years or any Bob Polk team

OK State played twice as many players as Rice.

68-48 final.

A much better Rice team lost 69 to 38 at Oklahoma State two years ago up there.

We really need Swayze back.

At this point, we kinda just need to get to conference play without any more injuries. Any bad or good wins between now and then is a bonus. The more we play with a short rotation, the greater the likelihood of an injury to those having to play big minutes.

Nikky McCray the former Old Dominion WBB coach has resigned as head coach at Mississippi State because of breast cancer. Wants to concentrate on her health.
