This season we have 800 yards and 7 TDs between Prince and Pittman, and both of them block well to boot. Admittedly part of that is because Prince is an athletic freak, but still. It wasn't long ago that TE was barely part of our offense.

I would not be shocked to see the commit from yesterday moved to TE. He's got pretty good hands but his route running lacks a lot to be desired. But blocking on a couple of those plays....sheesh. Some DBs in Mississippi are probably still in therapy. Put 20 pounds on him and turn him loose

Should we give Clark and the OC some credit for utilizing the tight ends more?
Just a thought.

RE: Change My Mind
whoever started integrating the tight ends into the offense like we have this year has done an excellent job. Will Pittman or Prince be back next year?

Pittman was really good last year when they did throw it to him, but Prince is on a different level as a TE/WR. Craddock probably had something to do with it. They liked using the TE's when he was at SMU.

I honestly think Craddock has had more influence in our play calling the past couple of games. I have no insider knowledge but it is such a drastic difference compared to what we have seen the past couple of years with vincent that i dont think it was just a lightbulb going off in his head.

I was wondering the same thing.

RE: Change My Mind
We used the heck out of the tight end as a receiver in 2014 when he was our No. 2 receiver after Nelson and helped that guy get drafted. It's not like Vincent discovered the position just now. I think some of yall just want to criticize the OC so much you are not even-handed with credit where it is due. When we had a TE who could be that weapon, we have used that position as a weapon. We have used the TE the entire time Vincent has been on staff. We barely used the TE at all the year we had a different OC.

UAB has an NFL potential pass-catching tight end who improved his blocking enough to get far more extensive PT, and used him accordingly growing that role as he improved his overall game and consistency without also cutting too much into how Pittman was used. I'd take those two as a TE combination over any combo in the country right now, and if you could fuse them into one player (Prince's athleticism and hands with Pittman's blocking meanness and leadership), you would have Travis Kelce. Coaching, hard work, player development. Isn't that what you want?

And yes, Craddock deserves credit for it too. He has been a good addition to the staff. I hope we hang onto him for a while. He has a lot of potential in the business.

Once a DC, who took the week off watching film, figures out that we are throwing the ball if prince is in and running the ball if Pittman is in, Prince is neutralized.

RE: Change My Mind
That isn't true at all. I watch that exact thing; we do plenty of running plays when Prince is in the game, and we pass it often enough when Pittman is in the game. We were way more predictable about that last year but not this year because Prince is improved as a blocker. It's why his PT went up.

Now when they go to the jumbo package with McDonald or an OL in a TE jersey, yeah, we're running the zone read or a dive play.

Averaging a catch and a half a game doesn’t change that thought. We know he’s better than most of our used wide receivers but Pittman is only getting a touch or two now to keep a streak alive.

Pittman's streak is broken.

I've never met Craddock and know nothing about him. But I do know that just about every effective organization, whatever the field, imports outsiders on a regular basis, to bring fresh ideas and diverse thinking, to break the inevitable standard mindsets that develop when you're intellectually inbred.

Bill Clark doesn't have a lot of experience outside a very narrow range: Prattville, Jax and here. One year at USA, not exactly a powerhouse of football innovation.

Grad schools don't like to admit their undergrads or hire their own grads. All of the military branches transfer officers from post to post. Successful corporations hire outsiders for senior management all the time. There's a reason for that.

I agree 100%. We need outside people here. Seems like too many redundant type coaches/buddies/friends.

Caught it late, but 3 Man Front this morning said OC Vincent and DC Reeves were candidates/names thrown around for Troy and JSU.
They praised UAB saying that it's great that both coordinator's names are floating around for head coaching positions - that typically happens with winning programs. Look at all the other programs that have to hire new coordinators every other year because they accept head coaching jobs.
