In regards to coastal, I would’ve much rather schedule a top G5 or a pac 12 team instead man

Army is a top tier G5. You'll get respect if you can win that game.

Excited for that game in Troy. My Dad is an Army/National Guard Veteran of combined ~20 years and my Father-in-law is currently a full bird colonel and I believe is retiring next year with 25+ years of service. Will be a great game if I can get both to come up and my wife and I can make it down.

Agreed. It’s a good game and will be a challenge for us.

I really enjoyed having Army come to stAte a few years back. It was more than just another football team. All the history of the team itself plus how the Academy has shaped our country. Of course it was great that we won the game.

I placed a bet that 2022 was going to be the year Army did not end their season against Navy. I guess I lost that bet.

I am really looking forward to this game. To me, the military academies don't really fit in the G5 P5 model. They are in a class all to themselves and oh so special for so many reasons other than the product we see on the field. Kind of a bucket list destination game for me.

I wish we could get Army back more than Navy or Air Force.

Considering we're going to be losing at least 17-18 starters, I don't think you want to see us playing a "top" anything next year. We're gonna have overall better talent mind you, but it'll be totally untested.

They are coming to ULM in '23 I think too. Excited for that and may try to make the game in West Point.

Won't they need to make modifications if the Sunbelt expands to 14 teams next year?

Doubt it. We will all still only play 8 conference games.

Correct. The original home and home contract was for 2022 and 2023. Last year's game was a covid replacement.

They had a canceled game that forced their hand.

Seems like Army playing two FCS games was pretty common over the last decade, up until the past couple of years. I figured there was a strategic reason for it, recruiting-wise or specific FCS schools they wanted to be associated with.

Was that the game that Tennessee canceled on them? There was a lot of blowback against UT for it because there’s a Medal of Honor convention in Knoxville the weekend that the Army game was scheduled and they were going to honor the recipients at the game. UT then scheduled a perceived easier opponent for that weekend, Akron. UT got blasted on social media and the news for making that move, as they should have.

I’ve been to a game at Michie Stadium and it was an incredible experience. Highly recommend making the trip if you can! Will be fun to see ULM pick up a road win!
