I’m hoping that can be ready to roll on Wednesday. Getting sick now is better than conference time but it sucks to get sick.

"While UM's record currently stands at 4-2, the Grizzlies might earn a forfeit victory over UNCW which would push their record to 5-2."

So UNCW might have two forfeit losses as a result of not playing?

I don't believe that will be the case

Just one example.
"The problem with Fornes is he wants to play hero ball. It’s especially problematic when he can’t hit the broad side of a barn.

He needs to see the bench. A lot."

That isn't very encouraging. Guess you could always just walk up to him and tell him to his face that he sucks.

While i certainly understand what you are saying I’m also of the mindset that if a D1 player reads what a “couch coach” on a message is saying and he can’t take it, he’s probably not tough enough to be a good player at a good D1 school. We all want the same thing, to build a winner. But most importantly we want to see improvement, a glimmer of hope, something to latch onto. And to me that’s what I haven’t seen and that’s where I struggle. We play better when we press, yet, it doesn’t seem to be our strategy to to that early and often. Things like that are what give me pause. Wes Miller took 4 years before he turned it around , but the problem is we had 3 years of losing under CB first. Fair or not, that is what makes people give a shorter leash

Because it's so heartwarming to a player for fans to show their lack of love. I really don't think it's encouraging to players who are struggling to reach their potential. Or have you thought about recruits reading negative remarks while failing to contribute support in turning the program around. I really don't think recruits care to play for fans who throw players under the bus when things don't get better quick enough in a fan's mind. And I don't see how CB's failures should reflect on Siddle. Wes Miller would have been gone after two years with such thinking.

Parents read message boards too. Can't say that reading our board would encourage me to let my kid be recruited to UNCW.

If you would be offended by 6-10 fans on a message board, your kid is probably too soft for D1 hoops anyways!

Yeah. I’m sure no other fans of other schools are ever very critical of their teams when they don’t play good basketball.

Fans. Meaning we (in most of our cases) attended, graduated from, and are still invested in our athletic teams.

If that is a problem for them, they should go play somewhere like Claflin.

Sounds like it's time for some jail and interrogations.

RE: Zootown Classic @ Missoula, MT - GAMES 5/6/7
I have a 9 year old and I've already talked to him about refs making bad calls, the opposition talking trash and ignoring all of the noise he'll hear while he's playing ("advice" from the crowd, insults about performance, etc.). If parents read criticism on this board because player x is getting a lot of minutes despite playing poorly, or criticism of a player for taking too many shots despite shooting only 26%, I doubt it is going to scare them away. It's truly not unique in any way, and the concern that we're going to scare away recruits comes across as self-important. I don't pretend to have any influence on the program, and I don't think any of you do either. I like talking sports and I love UNCW. Sometimes more than my friends that I went to school with, so I come here to celebrate or commensurate. What we're doing here really isn't that important.

I don't disagree with this and other comments in this thread. Athletes have to learn to ignore the social media noise to be successful and I'm sure that parents get used to it too. Parents do want their kids to find the best college landing spot possible. I think UNCW is a great place to land for student-athletes (despite our current MBB struggles). I think that can get lost amid the venting.

That being said, this message board is certainly the place for us to vent about players, coaches and the CAA. And so far this year, there is a lot to vent about!

Certainly respect 33 a lot and what he is saying. I’ve been around the boards since 2002 and remember the parents that have lurked or commented (Coombs parents for example).

But I also think times have changed. I don’t believe we carry much weight on these boards. These boards are like the old phone tree your church used to contact members with important news. Social media is where most players live. Anyone who feels compelled to personally insult a kid can and will do it on there. Sure kids see that stuff. Some are equipped to ignore it and others aren’t. Fans can be terrible human beings.

I don’t think our board carries a lot of weight these days nor do I think we are malicious even at our worst on here. We’re mostly just a bunch of washed up middle to old age farts. Who cares what we think.
