Don't be surprised if Temple tries to fire Carey for cause and not pay his buyout.

Temple starting quarterback D’Wan Mathis has entered the transfer portal and is no longer part of the program. Mathis enters the portal a day after former running back Iverson Clement alleged mistreatment by head coach Rod Carey and others on staff. He becomes the seventh scholarship player to leave the Temple program since the beginning of the season and the second this week.

Ouch!

What a toxic guy. Can’t believe NIU hired him. But it’s even harder to believe that Temple hired him. Such a weird hire. But huge blessing because now we have a great Huskie at the helm.

Glad to have Coach Hammock.

Respected and runs a successful program. No drama, just a winning team.

Did you hear the comment Coach Hammock made in the post game interview regarding the program when he got here? He said the team was coming off a championship season but was not a championship program. What a slam at Carey. I understood nwhat he was saying, but surprised he said that in public.

This board had numerous posts about the toxicity in the program from various players while Carey was here. It does not surprise me the toxicity babies up in Philly.

Actually, I wasn't surprised Hammock said it. He had to know what people were saying last season and that was his saying why he started over. I have no doubt there is more to it, but I really don't care. Hammock fixed it and we are back!

I seem to remember similar run ins by players here with the strength coach. There’s always two sides to a story but I don’t believe in coincidences.

There seemed to be a lot of smoke with Carey's relationships with players. And some people "in the know'' have posted the details here. There seems to a lot of smoke in Temple now. It was a chance fore Carey to start over fresh and have a different approach. But I guess not. We'll see what happens at Temple.

Also Breaking News: Sky is allegedly blue.

I am shocked by neither of the above stories.

Temple fans are freaking out about the 35 players who have transferred in the last 3 years including 7 so far during this season as a sign things are going south, but didn’t we have a large number transfer out during Hammock’s first 2 season?

Who cares? We're winning. He did his thing here and moved on. What he does after this, is irrelevant to us.

Things we knew about Carey: He has poo for a personality. He is an average MAC coach.

Now that he’s is a better conference he is a below average coach but still has that poop personality. That doesn’t fly. If you’re a winner as a coach you can be an a$$. Bob Knight did that for decades. Carey is not good enough to be a “my way or the highway” coach. He will be fired eventually.

Been saying it since before the season, this is Hot Rod’s last year in Philly. He’s done.

We are blessed and fortunate to have Hammock leading our football program.

True.

Rod did some things right and he did help bring a MAC championship and some OOC wins. Like it or not he will be forever part of NIU history.

Unfortunately the pressure at Rutgers is making him turn his negatives to worse. Seem like the same situation with why Jimmy Lake of UWashington got fired.

+1,000. I said this from day one when he was hired. I knew his character and passion for NIU. Being a proud Huskie is in his blood.

Don’t forget that he comes from the Joe Novak pedigree. He was trained to do things right and the Huskie way.
