I thought when Earl was playing well, he was off the ball--not PG.

Kinda ... he WAS PG in that he was running the offense a lot. He was just to slow to guard McNight. Alo shut the dude down. He had 10 turnovers !!! Hell, watch the replay folks. 07-coffee3

Interesting. I was watching defense and I kept seeing them taking it straight at ALo when he was in the game and breaking him down like an old shotgun.
Different people see different things. Penny, Larry and Cody obviously see what I saw. So hey, 07-coffee3

Unless you have some kind of proof, I will agree with Penny, not sure about Larry and Cody. I also will say most people would agree Penny has showed some favoritism in the case of ALo.

According to Kenpom, ALo has a turnover rate of 41.7. For a point guard to have that high of turnover rate is absurd. Are you telling me that he is our best option at the point? What does he do well to offset the fact that he turns it over every other possession. This is more about ALo than what you had said. Just wanted to put it out there.

I wasnt very clear there... I agree with Steve that Penny sees ALo in the way that Steve sees ALo. I doubt very seriously that Larry and Cody see ALo the same way Penny and Steve see ALo. Pretty sure they both see the pg position as a real weakness. In fact, listening to Cody on the radio the other day, he said that PG is a problem area and they are working on getting other players involved.

He is far from a perfect player but Memphis loses yesterday without Lomax
His block was huge and there were many moments when the team was playing poorly and he straightened things out. He led the team in assists and steals

And he led the team in turnovers. A negative that seems to be the only thing many look at, which makes little sense

The point that if he was a better player he would be a better player keeps being made. But the frustration and weird over the top fixation on him when he adds negatives to a positive game stinks

I wish he was even better and turned it over less. His last two last night were in garbage time but they add to the stats

As the season moves on Lomax will likely lose some minutes, moreso because in the bigger moments Bates will be more trusted. But while Lomax had the 4 turnovers in the competitive phase of the game he also made big plays helping the team win. The huge block, the steals and that alley oop toss to Duren

Bates, 17, was turning it over at the same rate then but with his inexperience he was unable to hedge that bad part of his game with making winning plays

But he will. And he already has. Just not last night. He will win a tremendous amount of games for us heading forward. But last night, Duren was great and Alo made a winning difference.

Penny still has really strange substitution patterns. We started a little slow and then went on that big run, had all the momentum and then boom he starts subbing and WKU immediately gets right back into the game. Timberlake was having his best game of the year and was by far our best PG option tonight and mysteriously sits and never comes back in. I don’t get it

Lomax could guard McNight. Timberlake ain't there yet. 07-coffee3

True…lomax is gonna have to play for his defense but seems like when he was out of control with his turnovers Penny prob should have sat him for a bit to settle him down…finch was really good at doing that back in the day.

He was bad ... On offense. He still hit some shots, and good assists, but out of control TOs were bad. And Penny sat him ... we were ahead 6 or 8. Put him back in when we lost the lead. Go figure. 07-coffee3

It's puzzling for sure.

Its not puzzling, Boogie left and at least 2 decommited, all or partly because they know Lomax is going to get minutes no matter what. All you Lomax defenders (and I love the kid,, he just should not be starting ) please explain this team's players per hundred possession stats over last 4 games. Lomax and Nolley are tied for 3rd in minutes. Lomax is 11th in defensive rating and 10th on offense, only ahead of Dandridge, Lawson and Camden.

Lots of stats don't get kept ... Like team points when your in, passes that lead to points, defense that leads to turn overs, leads lost when your out.
Just saying ... Stats ain't everything ... 07-coffee3
