The cougar hand sign down was golden. Surprised they never did that through any of the other games unless I missed it. It was funny to watch.

Unlike the "hook'em horns" the "Cougar Paw" is omni-directional, so pointing it down is not derogatory like the "horns down" sign.

But, I guess they were trying to trying to be intimidating. It was really cute to watch.

That pregame paws down singelhandedly made me want to see UH and Memphis set up an ooc scheduling agreement. Memphis games are everything people pretend Rice and smu games to be.

I agree I loved the physicality and hatred they had for each other on the field. Looked like some good ol football. Reminds me of the house of pain. I'll miss these until Memphis gets to the big12. Hopefully we keep the games going.

And Memphis and Houston aren’t really anywhere close to one another as far as geography goes. In the AAC rivalries are more about the standings and who’s in your way. Memphis-Houston has become a nice rivalry because they have both generally been contenders for a CCG slot and have played a lot of closely contested games of late. It’s become a nice basketball rivalry as well.

Funny thing is, early on in the AAC—I actually thought Houston was developing a decent rivalry with UCF as the two squads kept playing closely fought games. Eight years from now—who knows what the big rivalries in the conference will be. There’s certainly room for something to develop in Texas—-but as Houston-Memphis shows us—-future AAC rivalries may have little to do with location.

Yeah yeah yeah one team won and one team lost but what about attendance issues with Houston?
