Liberty was scrapy tonight and rebounded the ball well. They had plenty of second chance shots as well.

JMU will go 1-2. Lots to work on. Kudos to the Dukes for never quiting.

Anybody see how bad UCF beat UVA women last night? Ouch! I predict UVA will end up in the basement of the ACC and Tina Thompson will be fired at or before the end of the season.

Hopefully LU is top 40, but I don't believe that is close to the case.

Horrible shooting night for the Dukes in the 1st half. Just dug a hole they could never quite get out of. Props for them to continue playing hard and forcing OT. Rebounding needs a lot or work. See everyone Sunday at the AUBC.

We lost. 66-61 final.
Outrebounded 53-33, shot 21-71 FG and 5-25 from 3 point land. And in what is becoming a yearly refrain...we had 5 assists (we're at 16 after three games)

Clearly not our night. The girls fought hard and kept battling. Lots to work on though.

JMU's reign over Liberty in women's basketball is over. Future CUSA 1, Future Sun Belt 0.

RE: WBB vs Liberty tonight (11/18)
I remember O'Regan mentioning at the beginning of the season that he saw this team as a very offensive team. So far, I just haven't seen that at all.
It did seem like they were taking good shots, but they just weren't falling. I really wanted to see Ouderkirk more. Shots were falling for her in a way that wasn't happening throughout the lineup.

They did a good job defending Liberty. If the shots were falling, this game should have been a Dukes win. But too many misses.
Hopefully this team finds the offense.

Yeah horrible shooting percentage last night. The Dukes were getting good looks and good shots they just were not falling. Just one of those nights I guess, it happens.

On to Sundays game against Hampton and NCCU next Wednesday.

That start of something like 2-19 from the field and 0-9 from three may be the worst start we've ever had.

The game last night felt like a good example of what most people complain about who don't follow Women's Basketball

Hate to pile onto Coach O, but this certainly feels like a pretty specific coaching problem. If you can't get your team to move the ball around and/or draw up plays to create opportunities, they're constantly left to fend for themselves in contested ISO. Yuck.

Yep. Been thinking this for years.
The offense has been bad for awhile now.

Not just poor shooting. Watching the team on offense and it just looks bad all around.
The players have changed but the poor offense has remained the same. That has to come down to coaching.

RE: WBB vs Liberty tonight (11/18)
After this game I watched the rest of the Little Rock-Memphis game. Little Rock is Sun Belt and they are GOOD. Coach O is gonna not only have to up the team's game, but up his recruiting game, to keep up with teams like that.

I got home in time to watch the game from the last of the third through OT. Some observations:shots were not falling, and that's one of those things that is kind of catching. It looked like because of Liberty's defense, people were rushing their shots, which never works. And Liberty out-heighted us for sure. (That pink-haired girl of theirs sure can pout!) I thought Maddie, Kiki, Jamia, and for the most part, Steph, played pretty well. Goodman and Neff had some high moments but for the most part it seemed that Liberty had their number. Carodine couldn't get through the crowd at all. Looking at the box score, they had 22 TOs to our 13 and we should have been able to take advantage of that, but when you shoot 40%....! Also I am not that impressed with the guard coaching of Coach Sammy. She just isn't up to the standard of Ashley Langford, or maybe she's just got "baby brain" right now. I think the guard play has suffered since Coach Ashley left.
AND WHEN IS PEYTON COMING BACK? THE TEAM NEEDS HER!

I'm pretty sure Little Rock and UT-Arlington are leaving the Sun Belt. I believe they are leaving once JMU/Marshall/ODU/USM join.

I agree with your take. I hate to say it, but right now this team is not playing well. I’m not qualified to say they are not good, but they don’t look good. Terrible offensive sets, terrible rebounding, terrible habit of losing their man and giving up easy buckets. I don’t think LU is that good either, and we now know UVA is horrible. Good team (MD)- stomps us. Average team (LU)- close game. Bad team (UVA)- we handle ok.

RE: WBB vs Liberty tonight (11/18)
This needs to be a great year for Women's basketball.

Peyton has the potential to be a very good basketball player, but that does not mean this team should not be very good without her. There are injuries all the time in sports, and seem to be even more injuries in Women's college basketball.

RE: WBB vs Liberty tonight (11/18)
I have not been impressed in our first three games. This team looks no better than last year. I hope I’m wrong and it is early in the year plus without Peyton, but I am not going to be surprised with a 3-4 place finish in the CAA, which likely would mean a bubble spot for the WNIT, especially with no conference tourney.
