Hotels: I read your hotel comments on 247 and just want to give you a better layout of LFT. If your team hotel is the Hilton Garden Inn. That is really the only walking distance hotel to Cajun Field (across street). Other close hotels would be boutique hotels in the downtown area and a few B&B’s as well. Lft B&B’s are pretty good. The Tru by Hilton is in the River Ranch area with several other really nice hotels. No walking distance to stadium but River Ranch will blow you away, lots of entertainment and restaurants in walking distance and an easy Uber or Lyft ride to stadium.

Hotels on Pinhook, Kaliste Saloom and Ambassador Caffery (between Kaliste Saloom and Johnston st) also offer easy access to restaurants and night life and are really nice.

You also may be able to hire a local shuttle service for that night to carry many to the stadium at one time. Might be very cost effective per person. We have several.

There is only I-10 running East-West thru LFT. If you stay in one of the hotels around the interstate on the north end, be aware not any night life around hotels you’d enjoy and some parts of that area are dicey.

If you want a local to tour you around, let me know. Can meet up when you settle in and give suggestions. LFT had tons of night life in Down Town and River Ranch and easy to get around. Just respond if you need help. Lots of people here would do it at the drop of a hat. Good luck, hope to see many App fans here. Going to be nice day. Wife and I going to game about 2 hrs early. Tailgaters will feed you till you can’t eat any more.
Some pretty legit info.

But a fan who’s priorities are 1)lsu, 2)ruston, with 3)’Louisiana’???? Dude. That’s one VERY unusual fan. Have to be a one-of-a-kind fan actually.

Graduated from LSU, kids went to Tech, dad, brothers and sister went to UL. Always supported Cajuns. Don’t play sides, just appreciate what all 3 schools have meant to my family. Live in LFT area and admire what admin now doing for the school. It’s that simple.
Was just pointing out how unique you are. Lol….You would agree that you are a very unique fan, right?

Yes I would. Lost my grumpy side few years back. My kids enjoyed to small town environment. Not partiers and LT had the fields they chose. Just happened. Thanks for the observation. Guess I’m an outlier.

Ruffino’s is overrated and overpriced, Pour is good, I guess you can do Broken Egg or Reve for breakfast, but one is just OK and the other is a coffee shop. Romacelli and Burgersmith are good as well. As a visitor I wouldn’t be blown away staying there though as none of the food and drink places are truly great spots.

If there is availability at the Juliet or a BnB downtown, I’d recommend that over RR. I can think of 3-5 dinner spots,
2-3 breakfast spots, and 3-5 bars downtown that are all better than any place in RR; plus all would be walking distance.

You forgot Bonefish Grill, Agave, Grub Burger, Masalla, Carrabba’s all walking distance in RR. Marcella’s and T-Coons just down the road as well. Yes, downtown has big nightlife and plenty restaurants but after 10 DT nightlife gets younger and may not be for this travel crowd. Just thinking of target audience. I like both locations that why I referenced DT. Can’t get a bad breakfast at Dwyers or T-Coons. Either place is great. Their group referenced a hotel in River Ranch so just pointing out, lots to do in RR for convenience. We don’t know this crowd so let them decide. They will get plenty Cajun food just attending tail gate. YES, I’m an old fart and can’t do DT rowdy like I use to.

No judgement, (well maybe some) but you named some chain restaurants in a great food city.

Yes I did. And some locals and regionals. Could go on for 10 pages on all the great local places but just giving info of what’s in the area with limited transportation visitor's. The best Cajun food they will eat will be at Cajun Field Tail Gate. Then again, if one of the local cooking crews wants to pull up a cooking rig up to their hotel and do an all night Cochon De Lait, then go for it. They would want to stay permanently.

I think that was fine. Not everyone is into eating the local food scene and would enjoy knowing the chains around the area. I know there are a few paces that I would avoid the local food just because I know how some dishes are cooked.

The one pace Ive always wanted to visit and try the food but haven't yet and that is Austin Texas.

Agreed, and the rest of your list is great.

I did not forget any of those; that list is branching to places outside of River Ranch and chain spots. I left out Bonefish and Carabbas because they’re both chain restaurants. Agave and Grubb are both across Kaliste Saloom in Parc Lafayette, which I don’t consider RR proper. Agave is also trash with trash ownership, I would never recommend anyone go there. Masala also not in RR proper either. You have to drive to Marcello’s and T-Coon’s, but you also forgot all the chain spots between Target and Costco if you’re going to list chain restaurants and places you have to drive to.

Any place in RR closes by 11 on weekends except for Tap Room. And I’ve been to Tap Room a bunch in the later hours, that crowd is almost just as young as the one you’d find downtown, basically a similar demographic as what you’d find at Wurst Biergarten at those hours.

I agree let them decide. Just saying if you want to stay somewhere where you can walk AND have some of the best bars and restaurants, downtown is better. It would also be easier for them to get to the free parking at LITE from DT than RR.

The main point of my first post was arguing they would be “blown away” with RR; I just want to temper expectations.
