ODU: Professor has a minor attracted problem
It seems ODU has suspended a professor, who is attracted to small boys. One wonders how it views criminal justice. How many boys has this pedophile molested? Where i come from, this is a crime.

It doesn't sound like the professor himself is a pedophile. It sounds like he studies people who are pedophiles, or at least potential pedophiles. And I suppose he's correct that someone can have an attraction without acting on it. I'd agree the attraction is immoral.

I mean, the dude's not my cup of tea and I'm not defending him without knowing more, but it sounds like he's gotten in trouble for talking in an academic sense about what some would view as mentally ill individuals or potential pedophiles. I guess somebody has to study what makes those people tick. He's a professor of sociology and criminal justice.

There's got to be more to that story than the source is offering. Certainly a more unusual or unlikely area of study than the average research project. Seems to me the Prof is trying to assert that labels/words/language matter, which is true. Looks like this is a more of a case of an easy article for Fox News to drop without offering any other context.
