I could be wrong here, but I didn't see Spurlin on the field for the plays in the series leading up to the incident. I think he came off the sideline to be part of the third dopwn and went straight up to Gray and got things started.

If the officials truly saw what went on, they would have called Unsportsmanlike Conduct on Spurlin, instead of a Personal Foul. Spurlin never hit or even swung at Gray. As the video shows Gray hit and swung at Spurlin multiple times. No flags are thrown until well after the moment where Spurlin flipped Gray off and called Gray a *****. I'm fairly confident the officals screwed this up royally, and now it is a matter of how is it going to be sorted out. More than football is at stake for Spurlin, so I hope the truth in fact does come out.

Kid should be disciplined and he should reach out to the USA linemen and genuinely apologize. Should be the end of story. Stop all this cancel culture stuff. People deserve second chances, or even multiple chances.

Apps discussed it so there's that. Nothing to see here. He's likely looking forward to addressing the team with his rendition of events. Sending up prayers his brothers buy in. From my perspective he should survive barely. This is stupid.

It's not even been confirmed that's what happened. USA people say one thing, App comments haven't been made public because you rarely see any news come out of App's program, period. In a way, it's very similar to the Patriots. Not a lot of info comes out and the info that does is often very generic.

In terms of this, it's very telling that App hasn't come out with an official statement. They obviously don't believe the version of events as South Alabama is telling them, I'd imagine.

Clark deflected the questions away Monday during his weekly press conference. It's been radio silence from App on this on every front.

Nothing's been decided yet for whatever reason. This should have been taken care off by now by the league and something announced.

As I've said elsewhere, IF (and for goodness sakes, IF) Spurlin used racial slurs, boot him off the team. IF (again, IF) he spit, then suspend him for multiple games at least. An App State Captain spitting on an opponent is no bueno.

I understand Wommack is taking up for his player here, but IF neither happened and his player lied to him or misheard the purported racial slurs, then he and the player should clarify and apologize.

I'm not saying I believe one side over the other about what happened, because we really don't know.

If you lie about something of this nature more than apology is warranted.

This actions must be vetted properly. App state must not be allowed pass on this. It's sick!

as has been mentioned several times, none of hte App players or USA players other than the boxer reacted to what Spurlin said, which to me indicates normal trash talk. Of course, Racially charged language could mean almost anything since its completely ambiguous to begin with.

I watched the replay yesterday. Gray went after Spurlin very quickly and the other USA players held him back in the moment. As soon as Gray started to head away from the scene RT Antawn Lewis went to a referee, started speaking and pointed at Spurlin. so there is the reaction of the other USA players.

I didn't see anyone go to a ref. I saw the refs go to them, then everyone was talking to a ref. The guy started things with App last year during the bowl game. I'd imagine whatever happened was a continuation of that.

But what doesn't make sense is that a 6th year captain with no history of elections, personal fouls, or dirty play spits on someone and uses a racial slur around a bunch of non-white people, namely his teammates who voted him to be a team captain.

Officials said Spurlin was ejected for throwing a punch, apparently. So nothing the USA players said had to do with what is being claimed after the fact.
