No one can get sick anymore other than C19. Everything else has been eradicated.

I keep seeing stuff online about how we won the conference title. Did we win it? If we weren’t ineligible would we have been co champs with Villanova? Seems like the answer would be no since they beat us

There are no eligibility issues with JMU football for this year’s conference title or autobid. Man, this has been REALLY difficult for some people to understand…
We won co-champs with Villanova. Villanova earns the CAAF autobid due to the head to head tiebreaker. But we are both CAAF 2021 champions.

Sorry we aren’t all as wise as you man. It’s reasonable to be confused about this given the circumstances. I’m pretty sure odu had the best record when they left but they didn’t get the conference title.

Seriously, don't be such an ass. Not everyone knows as much as you and it was a legitimate question from someone not as informed as you. How about a little civility and just answer the question like a normal human being. It is not that hard.

Are you serious? I used to love him with the Wiz but he's been SO BAD on football games and I didn't really enjoy him at the mbb either... and i've heard like 10 other people say the same.

What would it take for you to be happy with the Dukes? Towson is giving us whatever we want in the pass game to commit bodies in the box.
There are few constants in life, but fishingduke saying the sky is falling in an in-game thread is one of them.
No denying that lol but really the lack of a run game is a major concern. There hasnt been a 1 dimensional champ for the FCS since what, georgia southern?
I have been saying all season that having so many great running backs has hurt us. We don't have a feature back which has led to a lack of offensive team chemistry and rhythm. I would love to see a two-back set with Latrele and Vanhorse consistently. If other backs need to transfer for lack of reps, so be it.
We can run. We just aren't used to it, partly because we have such an outstanding quarterback (cue the Cole-haters) and receivers, and partly because we don't have one or two feature backs to carry the majority of the load.
Why run when you have a quarterback passing for 363 yards, 6 touchdowns, and an 84% completion rate? Among our running backs, Vanhorse led the way today with four carries for sixteen yards.
We can run. We just don't need to. I don't see that changing a lot. Cole and his cadre of receivers are just that good.

Especially since literally last time this happened with ODU they had the sole best conference record but we’re ineligible for the conference title. Anyone can read it in this first paragraph if they’d like. I guess the circumstances were different this time

Here is the rundown, as I understand it and the rules do seem to have moved some since 2012.
1) CAA Autobid - goes to Villanova (they win tie-break on head/head)
2) JMU is still part of the CAA Football conference and eligible for the title/autobid. In (most) cases, where a tiebreak is used for the autobid, other teams claim a co-conference championship (re 2012 for instance).
3) Spring 2021 (the above precedent was dispensed with and UD was voted the conf championship).
4) JMU is eligible for the FCS playoffs and any seedings will be determined by the selection committee. JMU will be an at-large selection and at least one of the top 8 seeds.

Wasn't Delaware granted the outright title last year?

I thought I recently read somewhere that after an appeal we were determined to be co-champs. From the game notes on the JMU website:
JMU Wrote:GAME NOTES
JMU captured its third straight conference championship and its sixth over the past seven years with Saturday's win.

RE: Week 12 - Towson at JMU, 2pm
Here's something else to consider. We are not in the same situation as ODU was. They announced in May they'd be leaving for CUSA. Their football season was over. They competed with a CAA schedule that following season after their announcement. They were recognized as a FCS team by the NCAA that upcoming season, but the CAA did not allow them to be conference champion nor allow them to receive the autobid. The same thing would have happened to us had we announced back in May that we'd be moving on. That didn't happen, we announced in the middle of the season.
Another thing that has taken place which makes it a different situation is the big elephant, Covid. The NCAA is allowing us to skip the first year of transition or you can look at it that the NCAA is allowing us to use this current season as our year one transition because of the Covid rules allowing these "Super Seniors" putting us close to the scholarship limits set by the NCAA during a normal year of transition. As I understand it, we will be almost FBS next season but without the ability to play for postseason competition. That is exactly what year two is during transition. We've been afforded the opportunity to basically skip year one transition, thus the reason I've not complained about the CAA treatment. We knew the probability of what the CAA would vote to do to our athletes. It's unfortunate, but nobody is losing sleep, maybe a little disappointed, but the student athlete, that we want at JMU, will remain committed to us whether they are already on campus or making plans to be a Duuuuuuuke.

Didn’t realize it came across the way it did. Sorry to piss folks off. I’ve just seen people posting crazy wrong info in a ton of threads after our announcement.
