For the sake of argument say we were looking for a new coach (which we are not).

Why would we choose someone that used us as a stepping stone and would do it again a second time if something better came along?

Greg Schiano is at this second stint with Rutgers. He is struggling a bit now, but of course Rutgers is in the Big 10 now, not whatever conference they were in 10-15 years ago.

Word on the street and out in the open for everyone to see was that 'Tom' was a big part of the reason Fuente left. Tom was purported to be 'difficult'...especially when he was partying. Who knows, though. I just remember at one point...Tom had been authorized to offer a certain amount of $$ to keep Fuente here...and Fuente said he never got that offer.

Now let's see who steps up to defend 'Tom'. lol

Well I warned EVERYONE about that AD hire from the start.

If we hire a coach that doesn't see us as a stepping stone, then he likely lacks the drive to succeed here or anywhere else. Any coach worth his weight is looking to win big and move up.

Heck...the same is true for Penny. You don't think he'd love to win big and then move on to the NBA? That's a rhetorical question.

I know you said it's rhetorical, but of COURSE Penny wants to win big and move up. The difference with Penny is that he's not aching to get to a "better" NCAA school.

No one can win at Rutgers. I mean really...have you ever looked at the ESPN ticker and seen Rutgers win a game.

He's gonna have to either be a coordinator somewhere or he'll be a head coach at a lower job (almost certainly not P5 level).

Remember, we hired Tommy West as DC after he was fired from a better HC job, then promoted him.

It'll be hard for him to come back from this.

Did I miss something? When did Memphis become a P5 level school. Also, the Tigers will be darn lucky to finish above .500.

I think he’ll be fine. $10 mil buyout and he can make millions as a coordinator before other HC opportunities pop up (if he wants one). Barry Odom makes nearly $2 mil as DC for Arkansas.

Beat me to it.

They beat the absolute hell out of Indiana last week.

They are 5-5 right now.

As poor of a recruiter he is, and knowing he could take his pick of any P5 job, I have no idea why he thought he would work out in Appalachia.

I guess you have forgotten how the team just laid down with 4 or 5 games to go in the season after they learned he was going to leave for VT. They just quit putting any effort into winning.

So now the legend has grown to 5 whole games. Amazing.

In Foowhentay's presser at VT he stated one HUGE reason for his decision.

"This job comes with all those things wrapped up in a COMMUNITY that I can raise my three girls in and that was a HUGE CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO ME."

Bro... They had a lot of friends at St. Louis and still keep in touch.

Not saying he doesn't like Blacksburg more, just that he liked it here.

Let them have their legend, Fuente tanked the final 5 games of the season so he could go to Blacksburg because his wife didn’t like it here from some reason (taps nose).

Everyone is using us as a stepping stone. If we’d won 11 games this year we’d be sweating bullets on whether we’d have to find a new coach right now.

They’re all gonna leave. One way is much better than the other.
