Word on the street and out in the open for everyone to see was that 'Tom' was a big part of the reason Fuente left. Tom was purported to be 'difficult'...especially when he was partying. Who knows, though. I just remember at one point...Tom had been authorized to offer a certain amount of $$ to keep Fuente here...and Fuente said he never got that offer.

Now let's see who steps up to defend 'Tom'. lol

Well I warned EVERYONE about that AD hire from the start.

You must not hang out on the forum with 'the partying boys' much. That's to your credit, btw.

Bro...

In Foowhentay's presser at VT he stated one HUGE reason for his decision.

"This job comes with all those things wrapped up in a COMMUNITY that I can raise my three girls in and that was a HUGE CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO ME."

Bro... They had a lot of friends at St. Louis and still keep in touch.

Not saying he doesn't like Blacksburg more, just that he liked it here.

He had friends in St Louis, so he liked Memphis? You lost me.
It was pretty well known that his wife was looking for a less metro area to raise the girls.

Whatever...

Every coach kisses the fanbases arse when they get a new job...This is just par for the course.

We lost against Navy. They outplayed us.

The Houston game was very close and came down to a missed kick.

But there is no way you can tell me we did not just flat up show up to the Temple game. It was embarrassing and frankly unethical.

TCU

Ike's sources now saying to be on the lookout for Ken Dorsey to sneak into the TCU job. It's cold in Buffalo and he's likes warm weather going back to his days with the HurriCANEs.

Everyone wants to glorify that year because we beat a ranked Ole Miss...

We beat Bowling Green by 3

We snuck out with a win against a 7-6 Cinci team by 7

Beat an 8-5 S. Florida by 7

Then we beat Ole Miss...Now everyone thinks we are great because they beat 'Bama.

We then handle a 6-7 Tulsa and a 3-9 Tulane.

Then we play a 7-1 Navy whose only lose was to Notre Dame and lose (finished ranked 21)

Then we play 16th ranked Houston @ Houston and lose by 1

Then we go to Temple who is 8-2 and get handled...Matt Rhule was their coach...He has proven he is good.

I think this points to this team not being as good as many wanted it to be...All from winning that one game @ home against Ole Miss.

Fuente didn't stop coaching...His team just wasn't as good as many thought it was...Including Virginia Tech.

Let them have their legend, Fuente tanked the final 5 games of the season so he could go to Blacksburg because his wife didn’t like it here from some reason (taps nose).

they may stay in touch, but she told those same St. Louis folks how much she didn't want to raise her kids in Memphis ...

I thought that I read somewhere that she was shopping at the Highland Kroger when the parking lot riot happened--and that that event negatively impacted her perception of Memphis.

Or maybe it wasn’t just Memphis but any large town. Before the four years in Fort Worth, she’d spent her entire life in a small town. Raised, attended college and coached volleyball in Normal, Illinois. At 50k, roughly the same size as Blacksburg. It’s not shocking that she’d want her daughters to have a similar experience, if that’s what she was looking for.

Not to imply I want them back, but I just wanted to point out that within a 30-40 minute drive from the campus of our dear University, the rural experience she desires exists in at least 3 directions.

Yes, but really small towns and living in Covington likely wouldn’t work for the coach of Memphis. And I said “maybe” because I have no clue. :)

Lol there is NO loyalty anymore. And it works both ways. Lincoln Riley might leave Oklahoma for LSU which could trigger a chain of events that causes both UT and Ole Miss to lose their coaches. And I for sure don’t blame the coaches. Saying all that I don’t want Fuente back. Probably just need to stick with Silverfield for another year. It’s not a buyers market this season. Mel Tucker is about to get a 95 million extension.

The Temple game came after a hard fought tough loss and Lynch was not 100% for this game. We were flat due to the previous game mostly IMO, and Paxton was injured but able to play.

Ike has been on the streets talking to his people. Fuentes was ready to come back to Memphis as the WR coach and QB whisperer, but the Young Dolph tragedy scared his wife. They are now looking at Independence CC in Kansas where it is quiet and everyone knows your name.
