He said what we were all thinking after the Morehead state game. 15 & 8 from our big 3 won’t cut it.
Kennedy isn’t going to bull sh** us. You’ve seen him be blunt at his prior stops as well.

RE: South Carolina
I'm pretty sure I'm considered one of those "downer" fans, but I have to say I'm very high on this team this year. I've only been able to make it to the opening game so far but I was very impressed by what I saw. I think Walker has the potential to be one of the top players in the league this year and our next great PG. Having said that, for this team to reach the heights I expect them to this season, this game against USC is a game we should expect them to win. They are without their best player and even at full strength they're a bottom level SEC team. These are the kind of P5 games we don't get in football; a very winnable game against a "name" opponent. We need to take advantage of it.

RE: South Carolina
KJ Buffen had 9 points and 10 rebounds against them in last year's SEC Tournament.
Andy Kennedy has reversed time (except for his hair. And those reading glasses.). This is not an Ehsan team. It's not even a Haase team. Definitely not a Davis team.
This year, we're going to party like it's 1982. South Carolina? A sub.-500 team. West Virginia? Projected sixth in their conference, lost all their good players, with Malik Curry running the point (yeah, the ODU guy).
AK did not build this team to "compete in Conference USA." No more morbidly obese guys, anorexic guys, guys who have to take off their glasses to shoot FTs or guys who punch their coach.
This is a new era. We don't fear bottom-feeder power conference tag-alongs. We feast on them. AK is introducing us to a tastier brand of cupcake. This one tastes like chicken.

RE: South Carolina
With SC missing Keyshawn Bryant in this upcoming game, I believe their top player is #5 Jermaine Couisnard (Jr. 6-4 211).
Couisnard is their big point guard who is averaging 15.6 points per game. Looking at his production over the previous two seasons, the odds are in his favor he will score in double digits against UAB. He scored 28 against Ole Miss two seasons ago, and 23 against Georgia last season. Couisnard is already off to a hot start from 3-point land where he is 7-18 for 39%. He is 86% at the free throw line. He had 7 assists in their first game this season, but only 1 in game two and 1 against WKU. He also had 3 steals in their loss to Princeton.
He is a little prone to turning the ball over. He had 9 turnovers against WKU. His 9 assists to 15 turnovers this season give him a ratio of 0.600. Not a good start.
We will likely be giving up 4 to 5 inches in height in guarding Couisnard.

RE: South Carolina
South Carolina’s Big Man
Actually they have several big men, but one stands out above the others - #15 Wildens Leveque (Jr. 6-10 255). Leveque is almost averaging a double-double after the first three games. He averages close to 10 rebounds/game and 11.3 points/game. He had 8 points and 11 rebounds against WKU.

Agree with all of that. This would be a bad loss considering what the expectations are of this team. While this likely will only be an okay win down the road, it would be a damaging loss losing to a middling SEC team.

Ok, someone please help with this. I'm intrigued. I have no idea who 58-56 is referring to. I have an idea about the taking off glasses for FT.

Right you are. #0 James Reese V (Sr. 6-4 170) has bounced around from Buffalo, to Odessa, to North Texas, and now at SC. He is finally back home. He is their starting shooting guard (#2). He was a 35% or better 3-point shooter at North Texas, and is right at 35.3% so far this season.
He was KenPom’s MVP in the WKU victory with 14 points, 4-9 on 3s, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals, and 0 turnovers.

I saw the TV for this game was listed as SEC Network+. Does that mean it's only available on ESPN+ or will it be on the main SEC Network TV channel?

Akubueze, Gueye, Pearson, Bryant.
We spent a decade or more with a team from the Island of Misfit Toys. Davis even signed a guy with Munchhausen's Syndrome (who never played here, nor, it seems, anywhere else either but we stole him away from UCLA).
Ehsan is gone, and can take our good wishes and unredeemed lottery ticket recruits with him. This is a new era of UAB basketball, and it's time to take on a Bartow vision. VCU and Wichita have been to the Final Four. That should be the goal, go there and win it.
Gene once ranted at me, about a headline praising Slap Sanderson for five or whatever Sweet Sixteen appearances:
"Sweet Sixteens don't matter. Even Final Fours don't matter. There's only one banner that matters."
AK gets it.

Baron Munchhausen was a famous 18th Century bull**** artist. Hence the syndrome.
That was never Sharpe. Sharpe ended up falling asleep in a parking lot in the Philippines; his team declared him a disgrace to Filipino basketball and cut him.
Davis' recruit was named Isaiah Harris, from the Chicago area. He had some interesting self-promotion going with UCLA and others hot to sign him (the stories always mis-spelled the same words, so I'm guessing he wrote them himself) and Davis fell for it. When Haase took over he very gently announced that Harris was going in a different direction; he ended up playing a couple games for a lower-level school in Hawaii so at least he got a trip out of it, and had a short stint at Mississippi Valley.
Gene fell for one too, but that was in the pre-Internet days. A 7-footer who turned out to be about 6-6 and awkward.

South Carolina's got some thickness. I saw all of these guys play against Princeton and/or WKU. I don't think they will like the pace we try to create.
