Clemson is a Top 25 team, I won't fault him for that.

However if App was ranked so highly to begun with, I have no idea how they could fall after winning 45-7 and outscoring opponents 76-14 in their past two games. Mind you Troy played USC very close, ECU nearly beat USC and App destroyed both of them. At this point, USC may beat Clemson next week.

I understand why App may not be ranked but I don't understand how you lose votes in that scenario.

We have 1 win over a team in the top 50 of the ESPN FPI. Beating up on Troy and South Alabama doesn’t mean a thing. South Alabama had 60 put on them by a very mediocre Tennessee. The Marshall and ECU wins are starting to look better but the Coastal win looks worse and the Miami loss looks terrible.

Actually, where we are is probably pretty accurate but its the notion that winning by 38 points results in a deduction of votes.

It’s not a deduction of votes though. We may well be in more voters top 25 than last week. A lot of fringe teams won this weekend.

It’s very difficult for me to look at the top 25 and find a single team I think we should be in over. Even Arkansas.

If anyone should be annoyed it should be Louisiana who got leapfrogged by SDSU for literally no good reason.

Believe me…we are annoyed. Makes zero sense!

5 of our 9 FBS wins have come against teams ranked 101-130 in ESPN FPI.

The other 4:

Ga State - 87
ECU - 79
Marshall - 64
Coastal - 45

Are you looking at the wrong week? Cajuns moved up in both polls. 3 spots in the AP and 2 spots in the Coaches.

So basically App has to beat The Cajuns to get ranked. If beating two ranked teams in the same season doesn’t do it, I don’t know what will.

I believe more than half of App's games were played against teams with a winning record and the two games App lost came, once again, to teams who were ranked in the Top 25 at one point.

That's two seasons with five losses, all coming to AP Top 25 teams or teams who spent time in the Top 25 at a certain point in that season.

Reality is a voter in Ohio isn’t going to take the time and do his job correctly, he could care less if APP deserves to be ranked, he will spend all of 5 seconds evaluating us, shrugs his shoulders, and go eh….28 is good enough for them. Even if we beat UL, I wouldn’t count on us moving into the top 25, the only time we ever seem to garner serious attention is when we beat a P5 school.

Finally!

As an ancillary benefit, our game will also finally show up readily on the ESPN app for college football scores. My app defaults to Top 25 when listing scores, so once the CFP rankings started, I'd have to do a bit of navigating to find our score. That was also preventing the game on Saturday from being easily visible, now that isn't the case anymore. CUSA and MAC games are now harder to find, no complaints there.

Congrats to the Cajuns! I’ll always be glad when a team playing for the belt championship is ranked and I think this has been the case for the past few years. I continue to hold out hope for a ranked vs ranked sunbelt matchup soon.

But for real. That’s a nice shiny cfp ranking. It’s be a shame of something happened to it.

On one hand when Coastal is ranked for 22 straight weeks...”what a joke! They’re not a top 25 team!!!”

Then on the other hand when one of you beats us, “WE BEAT A TOP 25 TEAM!!!”

Or if you lose to us (like last year) “well our only loss was to A TOP 25 TEAM!!”

So when it behooves someone, they talk Coastal up into a giant. But in the next thread, I’ll read about how we never deserved our ranking because COVID and stuff.

I’m fine with either of these arguments, but it’s hard to swallow seeing the same fan bases using both arguments simultaneously.
