AAC Champoinship Game
1. If both UH and UC win out is the game at Nippert?

2. Does SMU still have a chance if they beat us Saturday?

3. If UH wins out a UC CCG win should be a high quality win.

Great season finish. Nothing in the bag yet.

1. Yes
2. Yes. Uc needs to win one of the last 2 to make the conference championship. If they don't ecu or smu would be the rep.
3. Yes though committee continues to keep Houston well below the polls

RE: AAC Champoinship Game
Reading the Houston forum they're convinced they will beat us. Some of them think we lose to smu as well.

We just played some of the worst teams in fbs, now that we're playing good competition again I think everyone will be more dialed in. Even with some injuries we are more talented than everyone else in this league

1. YES

2. YES

3. YES

3 for 3

UH only has Memphis left. We have SMU @ NIP and hopefully our last trip to Greenville NC EVER!

If the world ends and Cincy loses, I would assume they are out of the Championship game?

They have to lose the last 2 to miss the conference championship

RE: AAC Champoinship Game
UC hosts the CCG as long as they are the higher ranked team in the CFP rankings.

I believe that is the third tie- breaker; after 1) highest winning percentage in conference; and 2) head to head result if applicable.

Great season finish. Nothing in the bag yet.

Answered elsewhere, but I'll try to add some nuance:

1) If both UC and UH "win out," the game would be at Nippert. Actually, UH would be irrelevant in that case; if UC "wins out" then the AAC CG will be at Nippert. IF UC loses one, and UH "wins out," then Houston would host the CCG... which brings us to #2.

2) YES, SMU mathematically "does have a chance" of getting the the AACCG...OVER UC. Houston has secured their CCG appearance; the worst they can finish is #2. Believe it or not, UC can actually fall to #3 with a loss to SMU and SMU winning out, or with UC losses to both SMU and ECU. In that case--God forbid--the AAC CCG would be SMU @ Houston.

3) IF Houston "wins out" until the CCG and UC beats them, then...yes...it would be a "quality win." Houston will have finished the season at 10-2, 8-0 in regular conference play with their only other loss coming in Week 1 against Texas Tech. But man...that TTU loss really sucks. Tech fired their coach mid-season and now that loss is a real stinker. Houston has no other real marquee "wins" outside of SMU and even that looks dubious now, and if we beat SMU like a drum it only hurts the Houston reputation that much more. So, just how much respect Houston actually gets...who knows? And, it's not outside of the realm of possibility that Houston drops a game down the stretch here; their coach is not known for his acumen or his discipline, and--having secured the CCG slot--he may rest some of his starters to get them healed up. Houston is not in actual contention for anything outside of the Conference Championship; they have very little to actually play for the last couple games of the season.

RE: AAC Champoinship Game
Win both and game will be at Nip.

Win on and where game is depends if UH wins or losses to Memphis.

If we loss both we could be in tie with SMU and or ECU.

Just win!

UH 7-0 MEMPHIS
UC 6-0 SMU @ECU
SMU 4-2 @UC TULSA
ECU 4-2 @NAVY UC

Our play needs to wake up or book a hotel in Birmingham.

Ahh, yeah. Thanks. I didn't realize SMU had two in conference losses.

Bolded, the most depressing scenario, as it pushes UC to a mid-level bowl against what would likely be an unranked P5 opponent. Here's hoping that doesn't happen.

However, to me it reinforces the most important event that occurred earlier this season and that wasn't the win in South Bend. It was membership in the Big XII that will pretty much assure a conference champion getting in the CFP or a runner up finish securing a high profile bowl opportunity. We can say it now, but a future in the American was really no future at all for building a sustainable top 25 program. I'm not sure we can fully realize what Coach Fickell has accomplished, being saddled with the G5 epithet for five years.

RE: AAC Champoinship Game
Again uc has to lose their next 2 to possibly fall out of the aac championship regardless of what smu does.

The nightmare scenario of one bad game against smu knocking them out went off the table last week when smub lost at Memphis.

I think we should all be a little nervous. SMU and UH are good teams. Even ECU is not terrible and we play them at ECU on senior night. Let's be honest, UC hasn't exactly played like an elite team of late. We are playing down to our opponents. Statistically I can't even understand how Friday's game was not a bigger blowout. UC held USF to under 3 yards per carry and held their QB to 50% completion with two INT's. I guess that's what happens with you have 3 turnovers and allow an 80 yard passing TD.

Tale of 2 halves. Gave up under 40 yards in the 1st half and over 300 in the 2nd half. We didn't even force a punt in the 2nd half.

However, you could tell when USF came out in the 2nd half they had a different mindset and started running a lot of crossing plays, which are not easy to defend.

They are easier to defend if you continue to press your LBs rather than sitting them back in no mans land playing prevent. Same crap we’ve seen for a month.

Definitely - they adjusted and started hitting those slants/crossing routes which were wide open. We couldn't tackle the QB and get off the field on 3rd/4th down.
