Looks like uncc is having trouble securing the funds to expand past 15k. But to be fair, isn’t it a slap in the face of the disinterested students to bear the brunt of an $100MM expansion for a school that can’t even get 15k to an in state ACC team or relatively close big 10 team?

Lots of us are pissed about that. Our formal chancellor was nothing more than a Chapel Hill puppet. He bowed to the same people that told us if we wanted football we should just drive to Chapel Hill or Raleigh. So glad that dude is gone.

Why?
East Carolina serves the eastern part of North Carolina. -The region. Its medical school is designed to serve rural markets.
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte serves the Charlotte area.
They are both part of the UNC System and serve their communities well. It benefits both schools to be members of the same conference.
Finally- UNCG has a larger endowment than The University of North Carolina at Charlotte and East Carolina University. UNCG is not flaunting its prowess.

Salaries by Major at Charlotte
How much money do Charlotte graduates make and which majors earn the most upon graduating? Six years after enrolling, alumni who are working have average earnings of $37,000 per year. After ten years, graduates earn $48,600 on average.
ECU churns out a lot of teachers. If only the Charlotte residents paid their teachers more...

They each look like UNC System schools fulfilling their missions.
Urban schools are hot right now. Our conference has so many- South Florida, UAB, UTSA, UNT, Memphis, and UNC Charlotte seem similar in where they are located and how they serve their communities.
In Illinois, where I lived for 25 years, rural schools NIU, WIU, and SIU Carbondale experienced significant declines in enrollment. UIC, (located in Chicago and absorbing a medical school and law school) experienced loads of growth.
We are seeing a significant change in how our populations are using education. UNC Charlotte should continue to grow. Time will tell if ECU will remain as large as it is today.
