Good game last night Miners. I was very impressed with the new Miners under Golding. Definite improvement over Terry. I saw a defensive tenacity and instinct that just wasn’t there the last couple of year. They’re gonna be a tough team for CUSA. That Boum kid can shoot and has got a good supporting cast. I’m kinda worried about the game in the Don. By then UTEP should have some of the kinks worked out. Win or lose no game against the Miners is gonna be easy this year.

"Borderland Buzzsaw" is what we need to call that road trip for CUSA foes.

Appreciate the love from UTEP/El Paso community both from the conference change and the accommodations during the pandemic. I really like where the I-10 rivalry is at--passionate but respectful, like siblings. I will never feel that way about UNM. F them.

The Battle of I-25 is the rivalry between New Mexico State and New Mexico.

With UTEP rivalry, it is more hospitable with some respect given by Aggie fans. We are essentially one community running from the Mesilla Valley down to El Paso; separated by a State line. So, some family members bleeding Crimson and others bleeding Orange.

On the other hand, NMSU's rivalry with UNM is much more is more hostile. It's more a battle of the haves and have nots. Las Cruces/NMSU has always had to play second fiddle to Albuquerque/UNM with respect to State funding/community support.

But I digress, last night's game is a taste of things to come. I think UTEP is starting their upswing as a program. And, if NMSU can keep Chris Jans awhile, our Aggies will be a formidable bunch in CUSA.

Coach Jans just got an extension right?

Hope he sticks around.

It's hard to believe that your coach Jans put in his resume to coach the Miners and we didn't hire him. I'll maintain a wait and see attitude towards Golding but I know what we've would have gotten with Jans. Dumb move by the AD Senter, he must be buddies with Golding.

You guys dodged a bullet that he wasn't hired to coach the Miners because he's good.

Aggies have looked real shaky since round 1 in Las Cruces. If you would have asked me back then I’d say we would get the sweep tonight with confidence. I still think we can pull it off but this team has been very inconsistent the last couple of weeks. Here’s to a good game tonight. I’ll have my Six Shooter Whiskey I brought from my last visit to Las Cruces out and ready for this one.

UNM didn’t have a good rebounding team either and we made them look like world beaters last week. All I can say is that I’m nervous about this one.

Nervous Aggie fan about tonight too. Golfing will have his guys playing hard in the Don.

Funny stat of the game: Chris Jans has more wins coaching as the home team in the Don Haskins Center than Golding. NMSU played home games in the Don last year when we couldn’t play in New Mexico. Another nugget that shows just how closely knit these programs are.

UTEP had no answer for the Aggie big men at all. It was just time after time, same drive and dish, and UTEP was not helping each other. I'm not sure what they have going on, but they won't beat anyone with decent post players unless they adapt better.

Kudos to UTEP for making a game of it both times. You're young with a new coach. Things will look very different next time we play I suspect.

Was the guy who fouled out with 7 to go helping that much on defense? Because it seemed to get worse in the paint when he was gone.

Heck of a game.

Can’t wait until this is a conference matchup.

Good game, Miners!

Gg Aggies.

I was at the game tonight... It had been a long time since going to a game. The energy was great. Ultimately, the poor shooting, rebounding, and inexperience hurt us again. I didnt even realize Tydus was out with a back injury, but now we see why he starts. Hes important on defense.

I am loving what I am seeing from Sibley.
