After the first two games I put Tech 15th in CUSA. (yes, I know how many schools are in the conference)

It's mine, but there's just a lot of mediocrity once you get past top 5 or so.

I don't see UNT as a threat right now. Western and UAB look tough, Marshall looks impressive. The rest are kind of floating.

We’ve played a D2 school and one of the worst D1 programs. We’re 2-0 and looked much better. We’ve got Winthrop Tuesday so that should let us know where we really are. At the end of the day we’ve looked much improved so far.

North Texas was the 5th best team in C-USA last season. They did win the Conference Tournament and win a game in the NCAA Tournament. However, they were only the 5th best team in C-USA.

WKU had to come back to barely beat Alabama State and lost to Minnesota. They've had some players out and may be good come conference play, but they do not look tough right now.

I suspect Minnesota will be a top 75 NET type team, and for Western to lose by 4 is a good showing.

If they finish in the top 75 it will be from the value of getting beaten by other Big 10 schools. They were 6-14 last season in the Big 10 and had a sub .500 record overall.

RE: Week 1 CUSA Basketball Power Rankings
Folks, this is a very early ranking, based off of one week of play. I expect it's going to fluctuate wildly.

I just wanted to essentially pinpoint who have stood out, a lot of us have beat up on no name programs.

There are a handful of quality wins, but not a lot to really glean at this point.

I will say, Marshal battling back and beating Wright State was impressive, they are the Horizon League favorite this year.

North Texas was the 5th best team in C-USA last season. They did win the Conference Tournament and win a game in the NCAA Tournament. However, they were only the 5th best team in C-USA.

There is a big difference in finishing 5th in the regular season and being the fifth best team in the conference.

I think most people would opt for a CUSA tourney championship and a win in the NCAA tournament over wining the regular season.

However, being it is your power rating, you can pick any order you want. My power rating would have NT a lot higher. NT only returns 2 starters, but think they will be in the top 5.

Trust me, Minny is horrible. Will be lucky to win 10 games. WKU has looked horrendous to start season. We played well 10 out of 40 min first game vs Bama State looked terrible the prior 30 min. We were horrible vs Minnesota for 30 min. Last 10 min we had one guy, McKnight take over. Other than that we have a long way to go..

Ha! That's just stupid. UNT beat the West's #1 team (LA Tech) in two of our three games, and in our only meeting, UNT beat the East's #1 team (WKU). UNT was the best team in C-USA last season. We have the hardware to prove it and the banner too.

5th best teams from mid-major conferences don't beat #4 seeds like Purdue in March Madness.

As for this power ranking, UNT is too low. Not saying we will be the best this year, but I haven't seen anything that suggests UNT has lost their mojo.

I agree about Minnesota. That is not a good basketball team. They’ll be last in the Big 10. A team with a pulse would have beaten the Tops by 15+ the other night.

Disagree about WKU. We’ll likely turn around and beat South Carolina tomorrow (also not a good team). And will most certainly win more than 10 games. We knew all long this team was going to start slow. Too many new faces to put together to come out of the gates firing. Come January not many people will look forward to seeing the Tops roll into town. Too many good pieces. Have some patience before you jump off the ledge.

With your line of thinking you must think the Atlanta Braves were the best team in MLB this season. They won the World Series, but they were not the best team in baseball.

.
Absolutely, Zion Harmon and Keith Williams have yet to play and we have Cam Justice as a solid senior back up guard who is now eligible . Came back down 16 to Minnesota and has a shot to go ahead despite a woeful first half. We will win more than 10 games for sure.

I suspect Minnesota will be a top 75 NET type team, and for Western to lose by 4 is a good showing.

Have some patience before you jump off the ledge.
.
Absolutely, Zion Harmon and Keith Williams have yet to play and we have Cam Justice as a solid senior back up guard who is now eligible . Came back down 16 to Minnesota and has a shot to go ahead despite a woeful first half. We will win more than 10 games for sure.

I think the 10 game quote was directed at Minnesota and could very well be accurate for them.
