We Will Never Forget
Today we remember the 75 souls that were lost on November 14, 1970. It's not always about if you win or lose, but the fact you are able to have that moment at all. We play for them.

I had planned on re-watching the 2006 movie tomorrow but ended up watching it last night. I know it’s not 100% accurate, but I’ve heard (pun intended) enough Marshall fans say that it does a great job in re-creating the events that I can believe them, and the movie.
That said, this is just such an incredible story, and I hope the world never stops hearing it and remembering all those that were lost and the impact it had on the community/world.
I look forward to y’all’s continued success and the day where we have some heated rivalries between us!

So sad. They would have been in their 60's and 70's today--grandfathers most of them would've been. Just looking at their faces and their smiles and the sparkle in their eyes. They had their whole lives ahead of them. Really neat to see their names on the helmets mid-stripe. Class.
Thank you for sharing.

Hard to believe its been 50 years since that tragic event happened. To this day I know people who had direct family that perished in that event. Gene Morehouse (Keith's Dad), Dr Hagley's Family, Friends of Jeff Nathan, The Proctors, The Skeens, Parker Ward, The Lajtermens......Its always a special moment for me when we take the field.
They shall live on in the memories of their families and friends forever.

I was attending Marshall at the time of crash. I had five fraternity brothers on the plane and knew a lot of the others that perished in the crash. Most will never understand how devastating the event was to the school, city and the state.

I saw this referenced in an article about Marshall and thought it was worth a mention.
About a month before the Marshall crash, a Wichita State football plane on its way to Utah State in Logan crashed in Colorado and killed 31 of 40 on board. They had 2 planes and the other arrived normally.
Its virtually forgotten, possibly because something worse happened shortly after, or because they no longer have football.
Apologies, didn't mean to change the topic off Marshall, but strange how these events happened a month apart.
