RE: MBB opener attendance
Liberty’s first home game was last night, with an 85-24 win over Regent.
The attendance was 4,034. Sell out, standing room only.

I've attended game at the Vines Center since LU was in the Big South. Tourney games drew 8-9k+ and the crowds were electric. BSC opponent's were weak foes and had few visiting fans. Same with ASun. A few quality teams. 2k to 3k in then a 9k+ arena lessened the home team advantage.

I've moved and not been in the new smaller arena. My guess is it's going to be top quality. LU spend the bucks on facilities.

One can expect the 8k+ Vines to be used when attendance demand warrants it. The new, smaller arena opened last year would likely haven bigger if CUSA had been in the picture then.

Was the arena built to capably expand?

Yes, it is built in a way the can add a top tier to it. I was lucky enough to go to a few games last year in the new digs and I went last night. It is a small venue but it is really really nice!

The top tier would only push capacity to 4500 if I recall correctly.

MT should start a series of games at Bridgestone Arena again. Our last few games there averaged around 9,000 fans (most of whom were MT fans).

Not until McDevitt leaves. Nobody wants to watch this current show.
