Sorry. Though for people who didn't read the article it wasn't intentional. It was just that us leaving also made Liberty and others hesitate joining Stewart thinks. He's not even sure that's exactly what happened. Really wish ultimately Louisiana tech and us could be in a conference together.
Oh no problem lol.
I think Southern Miss had been eyeing the sunbelt for years.
Geography and Travel costs just make so much sense.
I think ODU and Marshall were pretty committed to C-USA. ODU’s President name dropped CUSA a bunch after the AAC poaching.
But Southern Miss planning on jumping ship, and JMU probably wanting to not travel to UTEP or FIU did CUSA in. Caused Marshall and ODU to jump.
All the stragglers would of done the same thing.

Great article. I hate how sneaky all the realignment stuff is. UNT President Smatresk said during the AAC celebration that he had gotten the call, the Friday night before the CUSA meetings, from the SMU President that the AAC was going to extend the invite. So he definitely knew the entire time the meetings were going on that Sunday and Monday before the announcement. I know he isn't a sneaky dude by nature but it's the nature of the beast of conference dealings.

Probably more of a stability thing than USM in particular leaving. That took the conference from potentially 10 to 9. Stability & better TV deal.

Maybe after the exit fees are collected MTSU tells WKU “OK I’m ready now” and off they go skipping to the MAC?

Nope, EKU not making the cut. Have you been to this campus? It’s Eastern Michigan Jr. Campus 30 min from Lexington and UK and they have a very small fan base. Most are UK fans there..Campus is a dump, needs major work..EKU 20+ years away at least despite their wishes, no where near ready..

That's always a very real possibility, but the MAC would have to have one heckuva media package to make it worth it. At 9 members CUSA schools will get nearly $2 Million per year per school from the CFP distribution alone until the CFP distributions are renegotiated.
Wouldn't it be funny for the MTSU president to come around in 3 years and say, "Just kidding! We're okay to point North. There wasn't really a concensus from Blue Raider fans to stay in CUSA because I ignored our most vocal and ardent supporters who associate daily through online messageboards and social media, who helped me realize now that MTSU is a great fit for the MAC!"

I would've been interested to hear Todd Stewart address that mysterious Mid-American Conference Grant of Rights we heard so much about. Would be interesting to know how long was it really for, and what kind of revenue stream was backing it? OR was it even a real thing or just online gobbledygook?

Why don’t you get the message.
The MAC wanted FBS schools not FCS move ups
And WKU had no interest being with eku
In any conference

Whoa. Consider that nerve touched.
My point is that there are probably schools in the MAC footprint (or nearby) that the MAC might take with you. I suggested Eastern Kentucky, but I also know that Youngstown State has had an eye on the MAC for quite some time. If a MAC school left the league, particularly in Ohio, YSU would be on the MACs speed dial. I would imagine that YSU isn't the only FCS school that would upgrade and join the MAC, given the opportunity.
The onus is on you, WKU, to hustle and work to find a partner. If this is what you want, then this is what it will take for you to get there.
Or you can stop complaining about how you got jobbed out of a MAC berth and commit to C-USA. It's your call.
