Georgia State
As Lord Belichick would say, we’re on to Georgia State. On paper, they appear to be a bit like Colgate in terms of returning experience and roles. They return all 5 starters from last season’s and are pretty deep and athletic. Will be a very tough test for us I’d say but hopefully we reduce the self-inflicted mistakes.

This is really Georgia State’s first game as they played an absolute no one Tuesday

Any word on TSG (short term?) or Joe (long term?)

RE: Georgia State
I would rather play the teams with lots of new players early in the season....but what can you do? As Belichick would say, "It is what it is." They do look a lot like Colgate with good bigs and lots of returning players. I hope their defense isn't as good as Colgate's

On the injuries, I once emailed a coach and was told that they have to be vague about that because people bet on games. They can say, "week to week" but that is meaningless. I remember Murphy being week to week for months one year.

Scott-Grayson is on the bench with a sling on his arm.

And still no Pridgen today.

Shooting is good on both sides early. 4 turnovers and 3 O boards given up in the first 8 minutes. Gotta tighten things up

RE: Georgia State
We are tied at the half courtesy of a Shaq bomb at the buzzer. 1st 12 minutes allowed GS to get out to an 11 pt lead. Stats at that point were ugly and stayed that way
*Turnovers NU 6 vs GS 0 (ended 7-2)
*Offensive rebounds GS 6 vs NU 0 (ended 10-2)
*Fast break points GS 8 vs NU 0 (ended 9-2)

The last 8 minutes, we settled in and played much better D and took a bit better care of the ball. GS appears to be the quicker, smarter and stonger team. Our shooting has kept us in it though (57% and 10-17 from threes). That definitely won't continue so it will take a much better 2nd half to do this

42-42, as Walters hits a crazy 3 at the buzzer. I haven't been able to watch super closely, but it seems like the offense is in better rhythm. Turnover differential still an issue.

RE: Georgia State
A little better. They are pressuring Glen so we aren't gettng into the offense until about 20 seconds. But the spacing and movement has been good. 10-17 from threes helps too

Down 14. Their physicality is killing us. They are all over us with ball pressure and it is taking its toll. They are getting to the rim and/or creating space whenever they want. And they are getting any rebound they wish as Doherty is the only resistance

RE: Georgia State
So 2 games in
• We realy struggle getting easy points (off turnovers, free throws, etc)
• We still turn the ball over at an absolutely unacceptable rate, especially at the start of halfs
• We aren’t nearly as physical as we need to be in order to be a top defensive team in the conference
• We can’t defend high ball screens

I know Joe and TSG can help with some of this but the last 72 hours have been very alarming to me

RE: Georgia State
Defending was pretty bad. Even against Colgate it wasn't great but they didn't shoot so well. This time GSU made their shots.

It's also like we don't even try for fast break points.

From Rocco Miller ...

@RoccoMiller8
Northeastern's incoming transfers and projected contributors - Joe Pridgen (TR from UNCW) and Tyreek Scott-Grayson (TR from UAB) are both out of the lineup again today.

@RoccoMiller8

I believe it's transfer paperwork related

Ugh. Not even sure how that could happen. There are a zillion transfers playing across the country. Hope it gets cleared up soon
