Can Liberty and NMSU join next year? I know the 2 FCS schools will play next year in FCS probably. How about the 6 going to the AAC and the 3 to the Sun Belt?

There's a thread about this topic in the CUSA Realignment section but generally, USM has expressed a strong desire to move sooner. NMSU and Liberty moving to CUSA sooner is dependent upon those leaving being able to leave sooner. We have fourteen until someone leaves early. In short, it's really up to the schools going to the SBC to start the shuffle.

On the top side, if Tx & Okl move sooner, that means those from the AAC to the B12 can move sooner, which means those from CUSA to the AAC can move sooner. Lots of parts and pieces....and money to work out.

I just got off the phone with Judy.

She told me for a Mugshots burger, a gas card, and 3 Shipley donuts, she'd let USM go without paying a dime. I told her to throw in Marshall and ODU and we'd get her a Chicken Strip plate from Raisin' Cains, a Starbucks card, and one donut from Krispy Kreme.

She agreed.

Of course the above is all in jest.


I think the official date is July 2023 for all 9 leaving. Marshall, ODU, and USM have expressed interest in possibly leaving before then, but like we've all theorized, nobody exactly knows how that'll work.

Judy's exact words were... "Sure, just don't unfriend me on Facebook ok" and make sure to "like" all my Facebook posts.

I can tell you that Liberty has a ton of football contractual commitments for 2022. So it would be punitive from an LU perspective for us to move before 2023.

Hopefully the timeline for Sam Houston backing out and staying in the WAC is ASAP!

LU says they are moving in 2023...not for 2022 season

Yes. Yes I wanna stay in the WAC. And judging by the reaction of the rest of our fanbase when the announcement was made, I’m positive that’s not an unpopular opinion.
