He'd be 10,000 times better than any other employee or relative of an employee of the UA System office but I think when the time comes UAB needs an outsider. Someone not attached to UA, UAB, or the state of Alabama and someone with *both* strong undergraduate and research chops. They exist, it's time to stop having someone with experience on one side or the other

Are they just going to tack on the title like they are with him becoming CEO of the Health System at the end of the year while also still remaining Dean of the School of Medicine?

I've been hearing Dr. Vickers' name for president for at least a decade or more. Everything I've ever seen or heard about him has been very positive and that he'd be a great advocate for the entire university including athletics.

I think he'd have to give up the Dean's chair but would keep the CEO of the health system job
