If they don't add enough to your TV package and Basketball credits (long term) then they'll end up costing every school in C-USA money. $200,000 means more at our level than $1,000,000 does at their level. The truth is that $1,000,000 loss gets spread over all the schools, so it is miniscule. Adding a 10th member to split everything except CFP money with won't be.

1. It would strengthen the conference's perceived stature. Anything less than 10 would make the conference look weak at the very time when they most a boost in stature. Raided by two other G5 conferences and everyone knows the MWC can have UTEP (and NMS) anytime they want them and the MAC just decided not to add WKU. Adding another FCS team doesn't change anyone's perception of C-USA's strength in a positive direction.
2. To be sustainable from the start, the CUSA will have to play a divisional schedule with 5 team divisions for all sports. This will require adding a 10th school, and doing it soon. In what way does divisions make it more sustainable? Round Robin is very sustainable.
3. The 10th member - - a current FCS school - - will have to scramble to qualify for FBS when SHSU and JSU qualify, and a long delay in selecting a 10th school could delay the start of divisional play. They don't need a 10th school, so . . .
4. The CUSA "4.0" only has 4 western teams lined up at present. It would be a big help to schools such as UTEP & NMSU if they can schedule 4 conference games vs. western teams so that they won't have to play 5 eastern CUSA teams. Round Robin. Move on.
5. The conference's viewership potential will be gauged, in part, on the number of members it has. Adding a 10th would help the conference in its dealings with broadcasters by adding another segment of viewers. Broadcasters want "more" teams. They didn't want C-USA with 14 FBS members, so why would they want it more because of a 3rd FCS school?
6. Regionally, the CUSA will start out stronger in the east (WKU, MTSU, Liberty, FIU) than in the west, where UTEP and La Tech will be the only remaining CUSA schools; NMSU and SHSU FB have much less brand recognition. To gain traction with regional viewers, they will have to add another western school. Boise State isn't available and that's the only western G5 school that could even out Liberty.
---Adding another Texas school (e.g., SFAU) would build regional viewership in the southwestern part of the CUSA footprint, particularly in TX. I doubt adding SFAU adds 1000 viewers to the TV package.
Sothern Miss fans have separation anxiety... But 12 to 14 will be the final target, Judy said as much, but since C-USA is no longer in survival mode so the additional announcements could come as late as net year and still be added in time for the 2023 season...
Tarleton State University will probably be option #1, then either another Texas school, or one of Central Arkansas, Missouri State... (NDSU,SDSU, The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga)???

We dropped to 5 this go round and recovered. No need to add programs just to be adding. 10 is the absolute max we should go. No Olympics only, no football only.
Missouri State would be great. Close enough to programs in East and West. Good hoops. Good football. Good sized market in a state with just one current FBS program.
Not sure anyone else is really ready from a geography, facility, budget, or performance standpoint.

The next round will be when the Big XII adds SMU and Memphis from the AAC. But the AAC is already prepared for that and won’t back fill them.
You guys do need to look at a travel partner for FIU in Oly sports, FGCU would be that fit. If Central Arkansas is on the radar, add UALR as a travel partner for them. UTA would keep Oly sports in the DFW market as well.
If you guys are going after another FCS, they need time to do stadium additions like SHSU, to average 15k, your stadium needs to at least hold 15k.

I have heard no compelling argument for the B12 to expand again.

I don't see Oly only programs as a good long term fit and we aren't in desperation mode any more so there is no reason to add one just to be adding. FGCU is a good program, but what do we do with them if FIU ends up as USF's replacement?
We don't need to solve the SBCs problems for them with UALR or UTA.
Central Arkansas is on the radar, but I think Missouri State is the main target.
UCA can be part of the next wave if any more teams leave. Gives them time to prep.

Try google
Shows some people just do not keep up with college football. NDSU is a lot bigger brand than App State every was during their FCS days. NDSU is probably a better brand today with App being FBS.

No, I think we will let Keith Gill and the Suck Belt football member school presidents unceremoniously strip Little Rock and Arlington of their conference home with no where to go. It's not our job to help take your garbage off your hands.
First: Under no circumstance should CUSA admit an Olympic sport only or a Football only university to the conference.
Second: There is no longer any urgency to add anybody.
Third: If it becomes necessary to add anybody we should only expand to TEN.
Fourth: Best prospects currently are Missouri State and NDSU
Fifth: Get the dang Basketball Conference Tourneys out of Texas.

I would only suggest enough to largely retain same number direct bowl tie-ins. If we stay at 9 or even 10, we'll lose at least 2, possibly 3, direct bowl ties, and they'll be divvied up among the AAC and the Suck Belt.

No. I expect Coosa to add non-football members (two of which are UALR and UT-A).

No, it shows that most folks don't keep up with FCS football. While NDSU has been a great story for those who do keep up, I'm not sure the 'average' person knows a great deal about them. Sure, they've had some good wins and some great publicity, but in the end they are viewed as a 2nd tier school, which is what FCS is. Don't get me wrong, as a Marshall fan I know a ton about the I-AA (as it was called then) level and competition and how good some of those teams really are. But it's really hard to build REAL brand recognition at the FCS level. To say NDSU is a better brand than APP is silly. Almost all FBS schools are bigger brands than the FCS schools simply due to playing at the highest level. Their scores and results get talked about on ESPN or at the very least is on the score ticker at the bottom of the screen. FCS schools are not, unless it's playoffs or they are playing a FBS school.
