I appreciate the sentiment but I’m salty af right now. I’d be a lot happier if we fired Judy and moved the basketball tournament East.

I’m salty too. But gotta accept the reality we are in and make the most of it. Walking away doesn’t put us in any better position for success.

100% agree- new leadership and move the tournament to Nashville. WKU and MTSU would make it a better event than it’s been in many years.

Exactly. Several fans are salty and will need some time to cool their heels. Me too but I dont dwell on what I cant control. Theres nothing we can do but go all in and make this a great conference. And I agree, the Presidents need to address the inadequacies of the conference headquarters leadership and the Basketball Tourney location. AND make sure that if we add any more, it only be one and it be a homerun choice.

Will we here an announcement from WKU that they are staying or have they formally said that yet?

I am not really a Basketball guy, but I do agree with you that the BB tourney needs to be in a better venue than Frisco. I always look at Texas as a FB state, not BB. I would like to see the tourney rotated, but I think the East is more BB country than the west for the most part. I would like to see the new guys have some tourneys more central to them.

WKU released an announcement about the same time as the MAC.

“ STATEMENT FROM WKU PRESIDENT TIM CABONI AND DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS TODD STEWART

Dear Hilltopper Family,

We appreciate the extraordinary interest and support from our faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends during the past several weeks as we worked to navigate potential opportunities pertaining to our athletics’ conference membership and chart our best path forward. We have engaged in frequent conversations with our peers, colleagues and decision makers across collegiate athletics in anticipation of change in many areas.

During the last month, conference realignment once again touched the collegiate athletics industry, with no conference more affected than Conference USA. We’ve seen some highs, some lows and certainly some disappointments. Conference realignment is a fluid process with more waves likely to come.

Since joining Conference USA on July 1, 2014, the league has been a meaningful home for WKU Athletics and will continue as such. C-USA has provided a platform for our programs to shine through competitive play and collaboration, and we have celebrated many significant team and individual accomplishments.

Our goals remain unchanged. We will continue to provide a comprehensive student-athlete experience and expect to win conference championships and bowl games while participating in NCAA Tournaments and advancing in post-season play.

Thank you for your continued support as we work to advance our athletics program and our university. We appreciate all those in our WKU Community who provide unwavering philanthropic gifts; who wear red and show up game after game; who join us in the stands waving their red towels and singing our Fight Song; and who ultimately carry forward the rich traditions of our institution.

We’re incredibly grateful for the crucial role athletics plays in the total college experience at WKU and look forward to a bright future and much success ahead. Go Tops!”

There must be 3 more addition to limit ungodly travel. And it can't be ndsu that simply will add 1000 miles. 3 additions between liberty and utep across the south to be nearer to FIU.

There is no one near FIU worth adding. They are going to be on an island either way. And we don’t need more Texas teams. No point in adding unless they are solid athletic programs.

That region is just so saturated with teams. Honestly I’d like to take Missouri St first. If we were going to debate another school I wouldn’t mind Illinois St (take a shot at the MAC) but they are pretty far too. The Dakota schools are awesome they just make this league even worse on travel.

I think that will come, maybe just not right now, I think we catch our breath and think long and hard about who we add. Now that we are back to recognized conference numbers, hopefully we can make some good picks. We don't need to add more mouths than we can feed though, we may reduce travel cost, but will we be slicing the pie too many times? What does it make the bottom line look like? We want to add quality, not just some one to carpool with, they need to add media value also.

RE: Let’s make this work!
Everyone that wants Judy gone should be walking up to their AD or school president or emailing them voicing these opinions. Not doing it on a message board.

Western's president is easy to walk up to and talking with because he's at most games and approachable.

If nothing else do it on the official school twitter account and if you are not doing one of those you must not really want her gone. Make sure you can form a reason as to why you believe she needs to be replaced and why you believe its the most important move CUSA can make at this point.

Yes. I don’t want to add anyone that isn’t good at basketball. We did that last time. The one good thing that has come of this is the other conferences took pretty much all of the schools that don’t care about basketball.

Used to be that you only needed 10 teams to have a championship game in football. Is that still the case?

RE: Let’s make this work!
I'm going to throw in a little fact into this because I think most of those on this board look at FIU as one of the worse basketball program in CUSA 3.0

Last season FIU crapped the bed
2 years ago FIU had the same record as UAB...9-9 & 19-13 (5TH Best winning % in cusa)
3 years ago FIU 10-8 and 20-14 better than UAB & unt ( 6th best winning % in CUSA)
4 years ago tied for 7th in CUSA

So while not world beats FIU has been upper to middle of pack in basketball 3 out of the last 4 seasons.

That's a good share Guns. FIU basketball hasn't been a bottom dweller like some of those leaving.

I am happy that we did not join mac. I’m hopeful that a couple years down the road we can have a solid conference with no bottom dwellers. I just had no warm fuzzys for going north. Guns is absolutely correct, shake your administrations chains....has to be new leadership in conference front office.

NO THANKS!!!

Stay at nine. Ten IF perfect fit. STOP.

If you don't like the travel you should not have joined. It is what we are and how we've been for years.

The original "five" have learned this lesson the hard way. Bloated conferences have BAD bottoms that drag everyone down and cut the money share into TINY pieces.

If you don't like the travel you should not have joined? Seems to me it's mostly WKU fans (a few) complaining about Texas. The complaining from schools on the east side never stop.

I havent seen a lot of discussion about travel to Texas as an issue but more about the basketball tourney being in Texas and that's come from many fans, not just WKU. The travel to Texas and Miami is a flight and for that matter, we flew a lot to many of the teams leaving so it's nothing new. UTEP and FIU have to fly everywhere so no one should be complaining.

I think WKU and some MTSU fans aren’t unhappy with traveling. They are unhappy because Judy has been consistently the worst commissioner, the conference we have been part of has been gutted, and the money has been bad. I’m one of the few that was okay either way but I’m warming up to CUSA because I think the adds were honestly about as good as they could have been.

I was referring to the JSU fan wanting to add a bunch of schools because he was complaining about travel.

We do not need to add just to help with travel cost-- that is just the way it is.

I AM NOT complaining about travel. By the way -- some of you should be glad we are back- the conference is stronger with WKU. Hope UTEP continues to get better-- we ALL do.

I agree. 9 (or 10) is ideal as we bring the FCSs up and rebuild the conference.
Agree with all of the above. Try to stay at 9 if you possibly can. No to 10 unless it’s just absolutely necessary.
