Good Job GSU. I think we all need to step up and make it a regular 3/4 bid conference ASAP. For ODU we do lack a good stadium but there is a study underway to make something happen and that should help with recruiting a little bit.

Speaking of recruiting, South Alabama and Troy really needs Alabama to add a lottery. Now that Mississippi added a lottery in 2019 we are one of only 4 states that does not have a state lottery. The NCAA only allows 11.7 scholarships in baseball to split among your entire roster. For programs in a state that has a lottery, in-state players can be given a lottery scholarship instead of a baseball scholarship. That saves that precious 11.7 baseball scholarship allotment and you can afford to offer more money to good players or out of state players.

A few others in the top 100 as well

31. CCU
67. ODU
69. GS
76. JMU

TXST had the #34 class in 2021 but not ranked in 2022.

RE: SBC Baseball Recruiting
Looking forward to baseball in the SBC. It’s definitely a league that can and should regularly put multiple teams in the NCAAT each year, and vie for spots in the supers and the CWS fairly often.

Hopefully the improved competition will force JMU to step up to the plate and finally make a coaching change (that’s long overdue) for our baseball program. Once upon a time JMU put competitive teams teams on the field, however, sadly the last decade has been very disappointing.

Rice just isn't Rice ever since their coach retired. When I was a student I went to the game the first time we ever beat Rice and it was such a big deal.

TXST had the #34 class in 2021 but not ranked in 2022.

I went and checked the recruiting class rankings for all the G5, except the MAC, in 2021 and 2022. Here's what I found, for the teams that will be in each conference post 2023. (CUSA has Liberty, NMSU, Sam Houston and Jax added, but of course may add other programs)

These lists aren't in order, I was merely counting them

Top 100 recruiting class rankings
AAC
2021
  1. ECU
  2. Tulane
  3. Wichita
  4. USF
  5. UAB
  6. FAU

2022
  1. ECU
  2. Tulane
  3. Wichita
  4. USF
  5. UAB

MW
2021
  1. SDSU
  2. AF

2022
  1. SDSU
  2. AF

CUSA
2021
  1. LaTech
  2. FIU

2022
  1. LaTech
  2. FIU
  3. MTSU
  4. Liberty
  5. NMSU

SBC
2021
  1. GS
  2. CCU
  3. JMU
  4. ODU
  5. USM
  6. TXST

2022
  1. GS
  2. CCU
  3. JMU
  4. ODU
  5. GSU

ACC got hit hard, majorly: UCF and Houston were top 100 both years, and Cinci was in 2022. It's worth noting Charlotte did well in the 2021 season, but is usually just decent. UTSA and Rice both have teams, and are not replacements for any of those losses. UAB is on both lists, FAU only on one.

Sun Belt added two teams on both lists, and USM who is on one (and is also consistently one of the best teams in CUSA)

It's an academic scholarship, but it's automatic for in-state players that qualify. The standards usually aren't too rigorous, like a 3.0 average in high school core classes.

Oh okay so basically that allows for using the baseball scholarships to other players like out of state and those that didn't qualify for this lottery thing. Makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up.
