Miami has dominated MAC field hockey over the last 5 years. 5 straight conference regular season championships and 4 straight conference tournament championships( none played last year because of Covid). Kent has been our main competition. This year Kent was better for most of the year and ranked in the top 25 while Miami had a sub .500 record and lost to Kent but managed a co-championship and hosted the conference tournament again. We edged Ohio 1-0, then scored 2 goals in the 4th quarter to beat Longwood 2-1 for the conference tournament championship.

In the past we have twice won a first round game but never advanced beyond the Sweet 16. This year, for the first time ever, we got to host Maine in a first round NCAA tournament game. They were up 2-0 but Miami scored twice in the 4th period to tie it and then won it in OT 3-2. Miami plays #3 Michigan in Ann Arbor Friday in the Sweet 16 game.

This was a heartbreaking way to lose today. Playing #3 Michigan in Ann Arbor in the Sweet 16 game, Miami was up 2-1 with 1:01 to go when Michigan tied the score, then even worse Michigan scored the winner with 2 seconds left.

Can feel the pain, still a good season.
