RE: BREAKING: MTSU is staying in CUSA (per Pete Thamel/MTSU's AD Massaro)
So CUSA will possibly be:

Liberty
FIU
MTSU
WKU
Jacksonville St
LT
Sam Houston St
NMSU
UTEP
UTA (non football)
UALR (non football)

9 football schools so you play everyone once then have your 4 OOC games. For basketball you play 8 teams home and home (16 games) and the remaining 2 once each for 18 games. This has you playing everyone every year in both sports so you're not just playing them back to back years every 8 years apart. UTEP is the only one that doesn't play baseball so play the other 9 each for 27 games and then have 5 OOC weekend series.

RE: BREAKING: MTSU is staying in CUSA (per Pete Thamel/MTSU's AD Massaro)
That’s good news for the conference but terrible for the schools. “Rebuilding” isn’t an individual effort and requires leadership. The lack of leadership (no vision and steps to get there) is the biggest reason I am glad we are leaving. For their sake, I hope there is a better media deal, the new additions have financial and fan support, and the remaining teams embrace it but I just don’t see it all happening when administrators are in the seats reserved for leaders.

Is C-USA a party to some strange deal with SunBelt?

I'm guessing to thank the SBC for taking ODU, USM, and Marshall??? Cant think of any other logical reason to add those two.

I feel bad for MTSU and WKU fans. This is unbelievable.

Look, it sounds like they are rebuilding the conference. Liberty should add athletic prowess, so should SHSU. I think C-USA seems to show the beginning of a strong G5 conference.

MTSU isn’t rebuilding anything because they are a joke. I’m sick of being associated with them.

Awww, sweetie. It’s going to be ok!

Will still be interesting to see if WKU works on a plan B to find another partner for the MAC.

I still think it’s a year or two down the road, though.

First good news CUSA has had in a while. Yes, it's a far flung conference with some misfits (my school included), but there's potential. With the real possibility of independence, this is far superior for all involved.

Now, give Judy kudos for saving the conference and send her on her way. With leadership, this conference can be solid.

We are still in CUSA until July 1st of 22. We get to take you guys to the woodshed at least a few more times between now and then!!!

No thanks. No need to play more conference games in basketball. I would rather schedule more OOC games against teams our fans care about seeing or that help us get an at-large bid.

I get the WKU desire for some stability in their conference, but also get why MTSU would choose to stay in C-USA. I don't think they are a likely AAC member, but do think that C-USA could quickly be back to being better than the MAC. It does require a serious upgrade in leadership though. The remaining schools should use a large portion of the extra revenue they get over the next two years to make a significant Singing Bonus and get a quality conference commissioner.

Bad news for MT and WKU, but great news for CUSA. Congrats on keeping two good teams in the fold. CUSA basketball is really looking stronger.

I think its a good move for MTSU. CUSA pulled off a nice rebuild and it keeps MTSU in its recruiting area.

No more HYBRID for C-USA. Just get Missouri State. Didn't Southerner Miss, jump on the SBC "gravy train"?
