The women finally won.

Kent State still hasn't found its shooting eye, but the Flashes found a way to win their first Mid-American Conference game of the season on Sunday.
The team beat Ball State 54-51 for its first win in Muncie in 25 years. The Flashes had lost 13 in a row since a 78-66 victory on Feb. 19, 1997. When the MAC played in divisions, KSU often would play Ball State every other year. In that same time period, the Flashes won 12 of 14 games in Kent. (The league abolished divisions last season.)
The game was very much like Kent State's three losses to open the MAC season, except this time the Flashes found a way to win in the last minute. The game was low-scoring and close all of the way, and KSU still struggled shooting.
Key facts:
• Casey Santoro hit a layup with 17 seconds to go to give the Flashes a 52-51 lead. After Ball State missed a 3-point attempt, Katie Shumate made two free throws with three seconds left.
• Kent State held the Cardinals to the lowest shooting percentage of any of its Division I opponents this season and the second-lowest point total. It was BSU's poorest shooting and second-fewest points of its season.
• Playing about 50 miles from her hometown, KSU freshman Bridget Dunn equaled her career-high of 15 points to lead the Flashes. Nila Blackford had 15 rebounds. For the last three games, she's had 15, 17 and 15.
• KSU made less than 35% of its shots for the fourth game in a row and went 4-for-26 on 3-point shots.
