RE: Other games - men’s Hoops
Charleston absolutely stomped sc state yesterday. SC state had a tight(ish) game with ECU.

Charleston has Pat Kelsey who I think is an absolute steal for that them. Charleston is predicted to be very much a middle of the pack team, but I think they will outperform with Kelsey at the helm.

RE: Other games - men’s Hoops
WM stomped by Norfolk St
UNC took the lead over Charleston...59-51 (11:44 left)
Towson beat Hampton
NE beat Boston
UNCW lost to Pitt
Hofstra lost 74-82 to a good Iona team
Miami beat FAU 68-66
UVA clobbered by a VERY good Houston team

My hardest games this season were:
UVA - still looks like the best team we'll play
@Hofstra - tough, but maybe not as tough as they seemed after taking Houston to OT
Mason - will be a solid test, will be interesting to see how the fare tomorrow night @Maryland
@Charleston - looking tougher than I originally thought
@FAU - just lost at home to a Miami team that could be around JMU's level this year
@EKU - obviously just took this one

RE: Other games - men’s Hoops
UNCW put up a fight against a bad Pitt team and CoC led UNC at halftime, kept it close in the second half before succumbing to the heels. It was a great atmosphere in Charleston for the bits I could watch.

Story of the night for me was UVA getting destroyed by Houston 67-47. It was never a game and never got close. The Dukes have a chance to get them while they are down this year and it is at home. Perfect timing to put a notch in the belt of the AUBC.

Big Other Game tonight

GMU @ UMD.

GMU might be able to play with UMD a little.

Would really set us up nicely for big game Friday.

JMU can't complain about facing a GMU on it's second road game in 3 nights after playing what would have to be considered a huge game for them tonight.

This seems to be a good situation/opportunity for JMU.

Mason is going to be a huge measuring stick - not just for the game itself, but because they have already beaten two of our future OOC opponents, morgan state and Upenn. They have performed well in those game.

Should be a good one!

Based on current Sagarins we will be a 2 to 3 point dog on Friday night.

Hard to make out GMU at this point as they have played low level competition, but have dominated in those games.

Agreed - but it certainly seems both programs are heading in a similar direction.

UVA is prime for the picking on the 7th of December. The Hoos are young with a couple of transfers and might get it together by the end of the ACC Regular season but they're struggling right now to find consistent scorers.

If we were ever given a schedule to run the table (which we need to to even have a chance at an at-large...even then our resume wouldn't be great, but they can't keep an undefeated mid-major out), this may be it. There's about a 1% chance, but there's no team on our schedule that we can't beat and we play the toughest non-conference games at home. Mason will be HUGE in a couple days. UVA is way down this year and even with Bennett at the helm will take time to get their ish together. @EKU was probably our 5th hardest game overall and we took care of business, albeit as close as it could get. Going to be an exciting year and there's a ton on the line with each game.

UVA was primed for the picking the last two weeks. My guess is we will face a much improved UVA come Dec 7.

RE: Other games - men’s Hoops
Mason plays #20 UMD tonight before they head down to the Burg, this will tell us a great deal of how Kim English’s rebuild of Mason will go. Following both programs, I would be thrilled if the Dukes could pull out a win on Friday. There is a lot of energy and excitement around the Mason program as he has brought in some stud P5 transfers and is hitting the recruiting trail hard.

Also side note, Pat Kelsey might be very dangerous at CofC, they played UNC very close for most of last night (including leading for the most of the first half).

RE: Other games - men’s Hoops
Well GMU certainly has a bigger coaching budget for Men's basketball than we do. I believe he makes more than our combined Men's basketball and Football head coaches.

Quote:George Mason University will pay Kim English, the new men’s basketball coach, a salary of $925,000 each of five seasons and bonuses of up to $425,000 annually, mostly tied to qualifying for, and advancing in, the NCAA tournament.
