Or, he has no candidate yet and plans to do "a nationwide search"

Maybe, but as others have mentioned, any good AD already has a short list in his back pocket.........

RE: 21-22 WBB Season
I watched the presentation show for the new Women's Basketball Coach -- Erin Dickerson Davis.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DN-0Nvt4Vo

She has definitely got the youthful energy...I wish and hope that she helps W&M get over the humps that have prevented long-term success here at the college.

While the camera was showing the audience I couldn't help but notice that Riley Casey (I'm pretty sure that it was Riley; sometimes it is hard to recognize the women players out of uniform) was wearing a walking boot. Hopefully the injury will be fully healed before the season starts.

Also, now that we have a new coach and now that she won an award for VaSID Women's Basketball Rookie of the Year in Virginia, hopefully Dani McTeer will decide to withdraw from the portal and stick with the Tribe.

Not that it matters one way or the other, but McTeers father liked the tweet announcing EDDs hire
Liking the coaching hire may have nothing to do with the fact that you want to play at a higher level

Not disagreeing with your comment at all...but my unsolicited thought -- to Dani McTeer -- is to realize that just because you won accolades as a better than average CAA rookie does not mean that you are ready yet to play at a higher level. This board has already outlined reasons why some players win ROY or all-freshman accolades while others (who are patiently waiting their turn on the bench) do not. For McTeer specificially, I thought that her offensive game all year was very tentative...but did show promise for the future. Her defensive game was good but could also improve. I was glad that she got a lot of playing time as a frosh because that would mean that she would be better and more experienced in later years -- if she stayed!! I'm thinking that McTeer could benefit from another solid year in the CAA before entertaining thoughts of moving up; plus, she now has a new coach and that could turn out to be a good thing, if she waits around long enough to check it out.

Of course, there could be a myriad of non-basketball reasons (academics, social environment, etc) why McTeer would consider transferring -- and we have no visibility of those.

It doesn't matter what we think of her skillset or where we think she is in her development. What matters is where she thinks she is and what the people whispering in her ear tell her.

Sorry, I thought that this was a “discussion board”. You have spent copious amounts of time discussing many players’ skill sets and development on the MBB Transfers and Recruiting threads. I thought that discussing the women’s team merited equal consideration.

You misunderstand. I don't care if you discuss it. I enjoy discussion and thought you made some valid points. My point was that the McTeers could care less what we see or think. Especially if friends are telling them that they can do better. I'm not saying that occurred here, only that it happens.

I understand. I understand that those points you just made are a “given”. In fact, NOBODY anywhere cares what shmoes like us think on these message boards. That is why I took offense on your stating the obvious...instead of perhaps discussing McTeer’s skill set and whether or not we care if she transfers.

Sorry I rubbed you the wrong way. That wasn't my intent. I hope the McTeers stick around we need talent for the rebuild. Even if she goes, I have little doubt that EDD will do a great job in working the portal and bringing in high school talent as well.

I understand that Dani McTeer has removed her name from the portal, has returned to the team, and has been practicing this week.

EDD is going to be a winner. Great recruiter. Won’t even be sad when she moves up to a ACC/SEC job in five years or so, because that will mean our girls went dancing!
