Hearing Rumors that VA Tech might be heading to SEC. If so, could we take their spot in the ACC? Dukie/Nation - hear anything on this?

RE: Conference Realignment News
It seems like WKU is tied to the hip of whatever MTSU decides. It seems like WKU wants out of CUSA but won't go unless MTSU goes and they seem reluctant.
It seems like joining the MAC would be better than staying in CUSA even if it meant a long term commitment.

Wonder what in god's name CUSA is offering or proposing to MTSU? This is intriguing.

I doubt they are offering anything. I think its just that MTSU may be uneasy about leaving to go to the MAC. There could be a lot of reasons they are considering staying.
Perhaps LU is offering a donation. Wouldn't be the first time.

It's all about the short term money. Plus, with Liberty selling God and extreme politics, they have more money than they know what to do with. Part of them being there is probably offering to pay for certain things.

So they want the exit fees from the other schools that are leaving and then they want to leave?
That's pretty hypocritical if you ask me.
That would be pretty dumb of CUSA to distribute those fees immediately, wouldn't it?

I think the tweet is saying that the desire to collect the exit fees is what has them considering staying. I agree with Rowland for sure, very short sighted to focus on exit fee money over a better and more stable conference that already had a better media deal even before CUSA lost everyone they did.

Well at least that makes a little more sense. But to stay for what they think is a better opportunity for one round of exit fee collection? There's a chance CUSA could crumble away, but you sure did get those exit fees!!
If the MAC is hands down a better option, to hell with the exit fees and move on.
Or perhaps going to MAC isn't that great for them which is why they are considering the money.

RE: Conference Realignment News

Not all that surprising considering MTSU has had some financial issues. They are probably happy to capitalize on some of that exit fee money.

Pretty sad that a school choosing to stay because they cannot afford to leave is a win, but it is.
This probably means that WKU is staying as well, correct?

Haven't seen that reported, but I think it is assumed. I think there was some speculation MAC had offered it as a package deal and they wouldn't take just one.

Correct. The MAC was interested in both WKU and MTSU, not WKU and another school.

RE: Conference Realignment News
ESPN article:

University president Sidney McPhee said in a statement that Conference USA's recent additions of Jacksonville State, Liberty, New Mexico State and Sam Houston State will help stabilize the league. Conference USA has lost eight current members in the latest round of realignment. Six schools -- Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, North Texas, Rice, UAB and UTSA -- are set to join the American Athletic Conference, while Marshall and Southern Miss are headed to the Sun Belt.

See anyone missing???? Oops. LOL

Per sources, WKU would still accept a MAC invite if invited. Don't see it happening unless they are able to get another school involved.

Of course they would, but I seriously doubt that's happening.
Translation: the MAC can live with/without WKU.

I gotta imagine WKU is quite mad at MTSU at the moment.
