Y'all are crazy if you want to get rid of Tressell with those stats, especially because by all accounts he is a good recruiter.

For comparison, our offense is 59th in total offense, 13th in Scoring offense, 61st in passing offense, 58th in rushing offense. If you have issues with this season (which I don't), I think you're looking at the wrong side of the ball. Also our kicking is atrocious.

You are looking at whole season. Need to look at last 3 games. Teams have figured out to run run run on us.

And for that, we should fire the DC. A couple weeks ago, the same people were calling for the OC to be fired as well. So after having their most successful season in history, we'll be hiring new DC & OC.

Let’s see how the run D worksFriday night. Both UC and USF can see the issue. IMO our problem has been going too conservative. With 2 TD leads going into Q4 - both ways.

Just a little Tressel ball. Frustrated OSU fans for years on their way to a national championship or two.

Adjustments? Or tweaks? 18-1 since last season. 40-6 since 2018. How about we play a complete game in all three phases on Friday? Complimentary, Bearcat football.

You have to factor in that he took over one of the most dominate defenses in the country. The are a year older, and seem to be playing worse. I'm not calling for his head yet though. Maybe he didn't change anything, because they were so good, and this isn't his style of defense.

Dembrock though... I've never been super impressed. They could probably do better IMO. In Fickell I trust though. I do wonder if he is loyal to fault sometimes. I also think Dembrock is somewhat handcuffed by lack of QB depth. He has a running QB that he really hasn't let run much, and he has been forcing him to be a pocket passer which he never will be.

Both coordinators came "down" to us. I'd prefer ones that come "Up". Fickell probably likes knowns which I get.

Picking Nits for sure. This is a really good team and staff.

Bingo! This was a concern of mine going intothe season. IMO Prater should have gotten more time in our blowout wins and been allowed to execute the offense.

This has been an issue for the past couple seasons with the current coaching staff. Bryant should have gotten a lot more time last year too.

The interesting part is that in the 2nd half of our blowouts, we really didn't do much or execute well. It almost would have been better if we had put Prater in to see what the young man can and cannot do at this point.

UC is on the verge of its most historical season of all time. You don't sacrifice that for the sake of developing someone for next year. Keep the starters in and run up the score.

Last week Oregon had a 10 point lead and the ball inside the Washington 10 yard line with under a minute to go. They could have easily taken a knee and ended the game. Instead they ran the ball and tried to score. They got down to the 1 yard line when the game ended. Their coaching staff knows style points matter.

Bolded. I agree with the concept but unfortunately the concept has not proven out this season. IF the starters aren't executing after one or two 2nd half possessions then we are essentially just increasing their chance of injury. In that case, get them some rest and see if the folks waiting in the wings have the fire and talent to do what the starters haven't done... pour it on and help UC's perception.

While I don't necessarily disagree with the reality of this post, it does show how the current playoff selection system favors poor sportsmanship. I keep waiting for some pundit to point out how this is the opposite of what colleges should be promoting.

If the other team promises to stop trying to score then you can also.

Eh, use that Oregon game. They could have taken a knee those last 2-3 plays and been guaranteed a 10-point win. If I had been coaching Oregon, my mother would have put me over her knee for setting such a bad example for my players.

Fick put the brakes on even when Prater did get some playing time. Hopefully Prater gets playing time tonight.

RE: Adjustments
From PFF's top 10 defenses.

3. CINCINNATI BEARCATS
Cincinnati hasn’t deviated from Marcus Freeman’s single-high structure that isolates their outside corners in one-on-one single coverage under new defensive coordinator Mike Tressel in 2021. And that’s a very good thing considering the Bearcats owned one of the top defenses in college football under Freeman — who is now the defensive coordinator at Notre Dame — in 2020.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Cincinnati owns the fourth-highest-graded coverage unit in college football ahead of Week 12. Cornerback Sauce Gardner has been the star of the group for the third consecutive season, as the true junior is in the midst of one of the best seasons from an outside corner in the PFF College era (2014-present). Gardner has allowed just 87 yards and zero touchdowns across 10 starts this season while picking off three passes and breaking up another. He allows just 0.27 yards per coverage snap — the lowest in the FBS among outside cornerbacks.
