I really don't understand Abercrombie not getting run in this game with Pepperdine's size. He shoots as well as anybody else and he gives you a big body.

Mike Rhoades would be having an aneurysm watching Sheffield right now. That's 3-4 straight times he's closed to a shooter on the perimeter with his hands down.

RE: MBB vs. Pepperdine (Nov. 9)
36-35 Rice at the half. I will very much take that considering we shot just 29% from 3. Need to be much sharper, less sloppy in the 2nd half. And we need to be much more attentive when closing to shooters.

Mallette and Mitchell are studs for Pepperdine. Not natural replacements for Edwards and Ross, but in a year or two, I imagine they'll be able to replicate their production.

How many seats are in student section? Do we ever fill it up completely?

It’s the whole end of the floor. Maybe 600? And yes we have filled it for big games.

Think we need crisper ball movement in the 2nd half. Pepperdine defends the perimeter too well for us to be static or for us to be sloppy and waste possessions.

We need to finish our drives to the bucket. We missed too many crip shots. also 50% from the charity stripe is awful.

Owls missing bunnies? I’m shocked I tell. Shocked!

Seriously, this has been a problem for years, well before Pera’s time. No explanation.

Big start to the 2nd half. 44-35 Rice. Punched them in the mouth, let's see how Pepperdine responds.

Make that 46-35 and a 10-0 run for Rice to start the 2nd half. 4 for Olivari, 6 for Evee. This looks like the offense that Pera wants.

Still can't believe Romar let Fisher pick up 4 1st half fouls.

RE: MBB vs. Pepperdine (Nov. 9)
Had a chance to put the nail in the coffin but a really sloppy 3 minutes lets Pepperdine cut the lead to 10. Unrelated, Zidek must be a chore to play with. Talented, no doubt, but boy does he have blinders when he catches the ball.

Owls playing solid defense and challenging shots. Helps that Pepperdine is ice cold.

RE: MBB vs. Pepperdine (Nov. 9)
Mullins yet to play so far this half. He doesn't look injured on the bench, but I imagine something is up. Meanwhile, Rice extends the lead to 17 on a Fiedler pass to a cutting Pierre.

For the most part, the defense has been really, really good. Pepperdine isn't making shots, but I think most everything this half has been well contested. That's all you can ask for.
