This plays right in JMU's favor:
W&M on defense is very good vs the run, weak against the pass.
W&M on offense is a good rushing team, very weak passing.
CJ should be able to throw all over, and W&M should struggle to even score...

I know Cignetti talked about getting some players back, but do we know how many of those will be available this week?
May be best to slowly get them back in so they'll be ready for the playoffs.

First off, Happy Anniversary!

My Wife and I set up the watch parties at JB's, but have not done any there the past couple seasons. Things just got really busy this fall and never set any up. There are many Dukes that live on the beach, but most run their own businesses and are so busy (especially in the fall) they could never make it to any events. The 2 well attended watch parties we did were the Labor Day weekend opening day games vs. NC State and WVU.

That being said, because it is on FLO, I doubt they have a subscription to stream it. In any event, we will be in Ocracoke this weekend or we would have joined y'all!

I think it is also on COX Yurview (something like that). But I don't believe we get that station on the beach.

Gonna be heading down for the game with a crew of about 8. I was reading that the lots open 4 hours prior to game time, but remember them being open earlier than that in the past. Anyone know how strictly they enforce this??

Great question. Believe this is accurate. Will ask on the W&M forum.

When was the last time W&M led the CAA in rushing? That has to get under Cig’s skin and the rankings may very well flip flop after this game.
JMU will not let them run and the featherless Tribe has a passing problem at QB. Protect the ball as COJO has done all year and win this one easy. W&M won’t have a chance without a large advantage in the turnover battle.

We had a group down there the weekend of the WVU game and we came in to JB's. You guys throw a good watch party!

Agree on the turnovers, but this game will be close if we play like we did in our other 3 conference road games. In those 3 at Delaware, UR and UNH, our offense played poorly, and most importantly we had to settle for a million field goals instead of getting touchdowns. Have to finish drives with touchdowns, especially when we get in the playoffs.

Hope I am wrong, but expecting a closer game than many might be thinking. W&M will be fired up after being embarrassed last week at Delaware, and we will get a good effort from them. Hopefully it is not (nearly) enough. The last JMU at W&M game getting a lot of hype too. This will be their first winning season since 2015, and we may see them in the playoffs if they beat us or UR next week.

Looking forward to A LOT of purple down there one more time and hopefully leaving that stadium forever with a W.

Really need a win so we can get as many home games in the playoffs as possible.

Found this article on the memorable game down there 30 years ago. Rip’s first season. Does not seem that long ago. Crazy JMU crowd going nuts on the winning two pointer. I remember the band there too. Remember Eriq on that two pointer to this day…

Game Notes for W&M are out:
Sammy Malignaggi listed at 3rd RB behind Palmer and Van Horse
Peyton Rutherford listed as 4th string

The good news is that the DNR reported,
“Palmer will be fine and Bryant looks better than we expected him to look,” Cignetti said. “(Austin) Douglas is really close to coming back, the other running back who hadn’t played the past couple of games.

We’ve got a shot here. The Luther Rice score is in jeopardy.

I am 100% team Cig, but I kind of wish Mike Houston could come in to give the pregame speech just this once. Let's see, we are playing a school that voted against JMU being allowed to compete and they need to have a good showing against us to secure a playoff spot?

There would be no need to lock the gates because we would have already run through and demolished all of the walls on the way to the field.
