RE: What are your strongest sports outside football and MBB?
For Marshall soccer is the easy answer. But Women’s softball seems to be an every year or couple year strength.
Hoping they can drop into the south and recruit some with the new SBC deal. From Chattanooga to the Kentucky line East Tn softball is competitive as all get out.

Baseball in terms of support is the second most popular sport here, we have more season ticket holders in baseball than football. I haven’t looked it up to verify, but we have been close to Top 15 nationally in average attendance every year since 2014.
Water Skiing as well. We have like 10 National Championships. (I don’t know the actual number)

Yeah, but I was talking about sports actually funded by our athletics department

RE: What are your strongest sports outside football and MBB?
For JMU, the women's softball team is the obvious one. We had the CWS run last year, but really have been good for a while.
The men's soccer team has made the final 8 a few times and has been in and out of the top 25 this year. I can't wait for soccer to get up an running in the belt! This will be fun.
Women's basketball had a 15 year run making either the NCAAs or the NITs up until the covid year, although the past few have been a tick down from when we were borderline top 25.
The women's volleyball team would have been one of the favorites to win the CAA and get the bid, which would have been the third time in 5 years.
Baseball, um, well... has a history (including a CWS trip like 40 years ago), but has been pretty bad recently.
For the non-Sun Belt sports:
The women's lacrosse team won the national championship three years ago and made the NCAA's 5 in a row until covid. It is a top 25 team again this year, but the NCAA tourney has a small field so they won't get an at large bid.
The field hockey team won a national championship several years ago. This year, it is one of two teams where the CAA tournament started before the ruling so they are allowed to compete. They play in the CAA finals tomorrow so wish them luck!
Finally, women's swimming and diving would have been the favorites to win the CAA for the 5th straight year. Full disclosure- I had no idea about this one until I read an article detailing the teams that were not allowed to compete.

Is that good?

I'll bet our women's swim team is the most notorious.

Old Dominion has won 28 team and 5 National Championships across Women's Basketball, Field Hockey, Sailing, Tennis and DII National Championships in Wrestling and Men's Basketball.
We have been CUSA and CAA Conference Champions 51 times in Men's and Women's Soccer, Men and Women's Golf, Men's and Women's Basketball, Men's and Women's Tennis, Baseball, Field Hockey, Lacrosse, Swimming and Diving and Wresting.
Our women's soccer team is playing for a CUSA championship today against Southern Miss... a Sun Belt final in CUSA!

Rugby is a club sport . . . Men's Golf and Track and Field have been pretty good of late for A-State.
Club sports are awesome and the true spirit of intercollegiate athletics. As a former club lacrosse player at App, I still proudly wear my "App State Lacrosse" gear. My kids and I will occasionally go to the local colleges club ice hockey games. They are just as fun to attend as as those schools' varsity matches.
If A State has a championship caliber rugby team, that is just as much a feather in their cap as a scholarship level accolade, in my mind

My daughters have the JMU-Delaware FH game on the sports viewing docket for today, along with the A10 and ACC finals. As a high schooler, the UD goalie helped coach my 6th grader at the position, so I fear the girls may be rooting for the Blue Hens unfortunately.

Our rugby team is usually outstanding. National runner-up at least a cpl of times. We actually give scholarships for rugby. I'm guessing they're privately funded.
Bowling is our most dominate NCAA sport with two Nat runners up (2021, 2008).
In SBC sports, both men's and women's Track and Field (and XC) are fast!

Historically, Track and Field, but it has been a while.
Currently Softball. 6 WCWS appearances and a current streak of 13 consecutive years finishing no worse than 2 nd in an NCAA regional. This year's recruiting class is ranked by some sources as the best in the country.

I would agree wrestling with XC up there and historically T&F as well.
App State also does very well in the electric car competitions.

At Troy right now women's basketball and softball are our two best sports anyway.

UL has GREAT support and success in both Softball & Baseball. However, your statement about having more season tickets sold for Baseball than Football is not correct.

That’s a typo, it’s supposed to say basketball.

Women’s Track and Field.
Women’s soccer, as of lately.
ESports, oddly enough. They’re on their third semester as a team and most teams are undefeated and first in their divisions.
recent success of these 2 sports
Baseball - 5 straight 40 wins seasons and regionals each of those years
Women’s soccer - back to back CUSA championship game appearances (lost both), had rarely even made the CUSA tournament from 2000-2017
